At the very beginning, I was going to make a reservation for Disfrutar, but it‘s shown as fully booked already. But I saw this restaurant is also operated by the same chef, so I came to eat with full expectation. As a result, I didn't think it was a pleasant and satisfying experience. After we sat down the waiter came over and said, ‘Hello My name is xxx(he spoke very fast), and I am your waiter for tonight.’ But the funny thing was he never appeared and showed up ever again during the whole night. Let alone check whether everything was fine or did we had enough water, let alone pour it for us.
The second one is the waiter was very anxious when he served the food. After briefly explaining the ingredients there is only a simple ‘enjoy’ left. I know it’s rush hour and it might have a bunch of guests but that’s not a professional way to serve your guests. I just feel like he was trying to get out of here while serving the food. Me and my husband felt quite uncomfortable. I felt rude.
Third, the last dish got served was pork rib with pipian sauce, which is a bit salty, I felt very thirsty after eating, but we had already drank up all the water. When the waiter by the table I asked him please pour me some water. But he was like ‘did you want a bottle of water? I said you don't have to give me a whole bottle Just one glass of water would be fine. Because it's almost approaching the time of the appointment. But he said he couldn't pour me water because you don't have water for half a bottle?! Ummmmm I don’t understand and I'm so confused...I just want a cup of water!!!
In the end, when I came to the cashier to make payments, the lady asked how was the food. I said the food was a little salty, just a little bit. But it turns out that she answered me that ‘ ummm you know what, some of the Asian guests said they eat more salter than here.’ Hello??!! As a waiter, shouldn't you feel sorry for not providing a satisfying dining experience for your guests and try to comfort and ask do you need some more water or anything ?! I was shocked by how she applied. I'm really disappointed!!! There are more than one or two people are complaining about the bad service on Google Review. I even doubt that I received the unpleasant service was because we're Asian guests?? I was very upset and regretted to come. I've tried a lot of good restaurants, and no one like this. I don’t feel any warm service at all, all I feel is your arrogance and conceits…
Updated: This is most awful fine dining restaurant I have ever came across. I wrote a long complain letter and DM it to their instagram account but got no response at all. And the weird thing is they actually read it and saw it but no response BUT they come to check my instagram story by 2 days later!!! Their stuffs have time to check guests ins story but got no time to say sorry!!!By the way, we ate four oysters but my husband got serious diarrhea for the whole night!!! Don’t Go to this...

Read moreA three star rating translates to "just OK" for me, and that is indeed how my wife, brother in law, and I felt after lunch at Compartir. I chose this much hyped restaurant since the original in Cadaques achieved rave reviews and the team running the show carries 2 Michelin stars. Unfortunately, the food was somewhat disappointing and represented the nadir of our otherwise excellent food experience in Barcelona.
First, the good. The restaurant is beautiful, with the space anchored by a bold blue bar and punctuated by ornate chandeliers and nautical, Mediterranean accents. The furnishings feel well thought out and are eye-catching without being over the top. Additionally, our cocktails were quite balanced and refreshing. The food did hit a couple high notes. The presentation of the dishes here are uniformly fun and striking, even if the taste doesn't always match. The sardine dish here is stunning, comprising perfectly marinated filets paired with a technicolor array of carrot sauces. Our table also enjoyed the tuna "cannelloni", croquettes with tuna, and oysters with ajo blanco and black garlic, though these did not impress to the same degree as the sardines.
Two of the dishes we ordered fell flat. The razor clams suffered from the unnecessary accoutrements of woody asparagus and a thick sauce, which distracted from the otherwise quality shellfish. The signature crab comprised a layer of a mayo heavy crab salad topped with avocado and ponzu. That dish bore unfavorable comparisons to canned tuna fish.
Service here was pleasant and professional, though unremarkable overall. Prices aren't exceedingly high given the Michelin pedigree, but still well above average. Compartir appears to predominantly cater to well-heeled tourists, which made up the majority of our lunch crowd. Despite how pretty the space is and a couple standout items, I can't recommend the food at Compartir over other restaurants in the area. Come to marvel at the space and for the sardines, but perhaps get the rest of your...
