I had read really good reviews about this place, and it was nice to have a spot in the market with seating. Food was good but I think we could have gotten better value for money by just walking around the market and picking up random foods.
House Special Squid & Egg was very unique. I would never have not squid and a could actually go together but somehow it did! A decent portion size on this one, but also very expensive!
Grilled eggplants were amazing! It actually looked very aesthetic as well and they give you a spoon to scoop out the flesh from the skin. Overall quite a flavorful dish and nice to get some veggie and fiber in as well!
Sausage & Beans was good! Quite a large sausage and a very large amount of beans as well. So definitely recommend this for some nutrition!
Pork Dumplings were very unexpected! They will like crispy dumplings with some really nice sauce! Filling and the sauce was really nice and went really well with a coating as well, but only thing is that it felt a little too oily from being deep fried.
Spanish Omelette was delicious too! I've tried them at other places and this one was notably good!
Love the Papas Bravas as well! Perfectly crispy potatoes with that really nice spicy sauce on top. That sauce was so good, I had some with the Spanish omelette as well and it...
Read moreIf you can stomach hovering over seated customers who are enjoying their lunch, in order to grasp their seats like a hawk the moment they pay and take a step back, you will not be disappointed. This place was the most expensive we had lunch at during our stay in Barcelona, and while we were on a budget, I truly do not regret choosing it; in fact it was such a memorable experience, that I'd have gladly cut back on something else and went again, had we stayed longer in the city. The food they prepare is no-frill, fresh, very well-made, delicious, and not pretentious at all. We paid 79 euro for 2 starters, 2 main dishes, 2 glasses of cava, 1 glass of sangría, 2 coffees and 2 desserts. I would not go near such prices back home (21 euro for a main dish with prawns— yet excellently prepared and generously portioned, I'd go for it again and again), but we were on holiday and I wanted to savour the experience. The asparagus wrapped in bacon was excellent, as well as prawns with garlic, finished with cava. The patatas bravas were the best we had in town. I saw plenty of things that people sitting next to us ordered, and they all looked excellent. The portions were not stingy (I counted 13 well-sized prawns on my plate, and I might have even missed a couple), and I am not someone who eats like a...
Read moreThis restaurant saved my life. After having lunch here, I was sightseeing in Barcelona by myself. One moment I had a bad feeling and looked in my bag and found that my passport, credit cards, and visa for staying in Germany were missing. I panicked and called the Japanese Embassy after stopping my credit card. They then told me that they got a contact from the restaurant where I had lunch in the Boqueria market and said they had all my passports and other documents. How is that possible? They, a popular restaurant all the day, took a look at my passport, determined that I was a Japanese citizen, and called me in the midst of a constant stream of customers. I can’t appreciate with any words. When I went to the market to pick them up, all the staffs there smiled at me. Also, the guy with the glasses gave me my passport, and actually he tucked my passport in the breast pocket of his apron. How warm these people are. Still in a panic, I could not thank them enough. That sucks. I hope they see this comment.
The food tastes were amazingly great, all of the staffs are friendly to all nationalities, and the prices are not unaffordable. The speed of serving was fast and there was not a single thing to complain about. Definitely a restaurant I would visit again. Thank...
