We stayed seven days at the hotel for a vacation in Barcelona. The arrival was fine but when we returned from dinner, the entire hotel had no air conditioning. It was a heat wave in Barcelona so we are talking 38 C and no AC whatsoever. I understand these things happen, but the hotel did very little to even acknowledge it pretending it was not a big deal. As the night went on and we try to sleep, every time we ask, we were told that their maintenance guy was trying to fix it and they didn’t offer anything to us. One of them also mentioned that they were also hot in the lobby, come on, at least you are getting paid, not paying for the room When I asked for a fan, they say they didn’t have it. Needless to say we couldn’t sleep at all, even opening the window, which we did despite the heat out and lack of wind, as well as the noises from the partying. |The next morning I wanted to make sure they would make it up to us, but the only thing they offer was a free breakfast for just that day. Though I appreciate it, there was no other attempt to even acknowledge how screwed up the situation was. We asked to be moved to another hotel of the same chain in Barcelona or the money back to book another hotel but they just kept telling us to wait to see if they would|resolve the issue and “have some | patience”. We had to leave for the entire day since you couldn’t be at the hotel. They ultimately ended up fixing the air bar. That was the only acknowledgment they made. No compensation of any kind, no more breakfast and no attempt to reduce the price of that night or even remove that charge it.|With that side, the hotel is in a good location, but it’s a little tired. At first impression looks good but when you really look, nothing is properly working. The door of the lobby broke twice while we were there and in our bathroom, after showering the shower will leak all over the floor, and you can tell the same thing happens in the floor above based on their what the water stains on the ceiling. Anyway, not a...
Read moreThis is a perfect hotel to stay in if you'd like to be in the thick of the action in Barcelona city centre. This hotel is a short walk from La Rambla and its accompanying delights, including the fabulous Boqueria Market. My party of three senior-age siblings found the hotel room bright, clean and well-maintained and we absolutely enjoyed their breakfast spread.
But what really impressed us during our four-day stay was the service, especially by the front desk staff Diego (who jokingly calls himself the "Bolivian Boy) and his manager Daniel.
Diego was naturally friendly and always cheerful providing assistance, information and tips. We had approached him one late night for help in seeking physical assistance from the Barcelona Sants train for our brother who was still recovering from an illness he experienced before checking into the hotel. He researched and identified the office that could help us.
The following morning, Daniel the manager -- busy as he was -- took time and made several phone calls for us to ensure that my brother would get the help he needed when he'd board the train for Madrid a day later. Not being Spanish speakers, we were not confident about our ability to navigate services and processes and Daniel understood this.
This extra help made a huge difference in providing comfort and ease for our group and for this, we are grateful to both Diego and Daniel! They went out of their way made our stay at the hotel extra-memorable and they are a credit to the hotel as well as to Barcelona tourism...
Read moreStayed here for 4 nights, loved the location but everything else was disappointing. 2 out of 4 nights I found this bug in the restroom in the middle of the night. I freaked out so forgot to take a picture but that is not ok.
Also I got room service once during my stay and the food took more than 40 minutes to cook. I just ordered one dish and had to call them again to verify.
I remember they had this water station in the lobby which is very thoughtful because if you’re walking around the city all day and come back to the hotel that’s all you need. But that water tank was never refilled appropriately. Everytime I drank it just tasted like pure cucumber because there’s like 20% water and 80% cucumber and mint there.
Out of all the 4 star hotels I’ve stayed in Spain, this was the only place that didn’t have coffee machine and water boiler in the room.
And the last day morning…I had to go to the airport so asked the receptionist if they can help me get a cab. He said he just requested one so sit down and wait. I waited for like 20 minutes and asked him again just to hear there are no drivers around. He could have told me that before I asked him and before helping other customers. At the end I just got an uber and barely made it to...
