I had the pleasure of living in Barcelona for 15 years and having breakfast every weekend in Escribà. I’m here again today and was checking their opening time when my eye was drawn to their reviews. I can’t begin to understand their 3.8 average rating. This wonderful place is a 5 star establishment, over and over again, without a shadow of a doubt. The owner is hugely creative, their products are absolutely delicious and entering either of their two shops is like stepping into some kind of Wonderland. Sadly, when we have a bad experience we tend to shout about it from the rooftops and when we have a good experience we keep quiet. And I have to confess I have been guilty of the latter as this is the first time I have left them a review, in all these years. So, travellers, if you’re coming to Barcelona don’t miss this amazing place. To me, it is one of the essential landmarks in the city - like visiting a Gaudí building, or the Parque Güell, or strolling down the Ramblas. And if you do stroll down the Ramblas and don’t go into this place, well in my opinion, you will, to some extent, be missing the whole point...
Read moreAll products tested fresh and with genuine flavors. A quality pastry, among the best tried in Barcelona and in Europe. I will briefly describe the products I tasted.
Tiramisu: Escribà tiramisu received the first 5/5 ( 10/10 )of all the dishes I have tried out of all the restaurants / bakeries / pastry shops here in Barcelona. It is the best tiramisu I have ever eaten in my life. Strong and perfectly balanced mascarpone flavor on the palate. right dose of coffee and notes of bitter cocoa. 5/5
Single portion with hazelnut; well made and fresh, genuine. Very delicate flavor, perhaps too much. I would have preferred a more intoxicating and strong taste. However well done 3.75 / 5.
Sacher: very good, really good and intense apricot extract, the right acid and the right sweet. Only comment I find that the portion would have been balanced with greater quantity of extract. 4/5
Excellent pastry, worth the stop. Recommended.

Read moreI live nearby, and occasionally buy pastries to take. Today as in previous times, I went to pick up the pastries, when one of the employees decided to yell at me, so i answer "what" in English, and he then he said "this is not self service!". The worker startled me so much that the forceps fell out of my hands. The employee simply created a commotion about nothing and humiliated me in front of six other clients. There is a way to talk to your customers. You also serve tourists, so maybe instead of yelling at people, put up signs In a clear place . I will no longer feel comfortable entering your business, when I see the employee in question. Too bad this is your service - takes out all the sweetness and leaves a bitter taste...
