I never post reviews, but I am compelled. I’m still sitting at my table, as I choke down this gastronomic disaster. Ordered Sr. Perellada paella, xipirones (fried squid), ham and chicken croquettes, and bread with tomatoes. My first clue should have been the deserted dining room, but I took the recommendation from my hotel and trusted the staff’s earnest expression. The Xipirones were breaded with a very thick batter (not light and delicate like fried anchovies I had in another restaurant), they were heavy and trying one was enough I didn’t care to have any more. The paella was the gentleman’s paella (Sr. Perellada) and was unappetizing and wasn’t enjoyable. The table next to us had a paella that looked and smelled nice enough but I’m not coming back to find out if it was any better. The tomatoes and bread I prepared myself were the best thing served. An unfortunate waste of precious few dining opportunities during our trip to Barcelona

Surprising though it may seem, it is not easy to find a good ‘arrosseria’ in Barcelona. I can say that Arrosseria Xàtiva is one of them. They have several establishments in Barcelona. We went to the one on carrer de Muntaner. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff is excellent. As for the food, to start, we ordered two starters: eggplants with honey and ‘calçots’ battered in squid ink. Great decision! Not to mention the rice dishes… They have plenty of them! For vegetarians (and also non-vegetarians), I recommend the one with caramelized onion; it is very tasty and mellow. For sea-lovers, I recommend the black rice, undoubtedly, although the ‘arròs del senyoret’ does not fall short either. If you want to finish the meal with a sweet touch, I recommend trying one of the desserts offered on their varied menu. Doubtlessly, we will come back soon.

We came here because we had heard very good things about this place. The staff was super friendly and we came an hour before our reservation and they let us in without a problem. Tinto de verano was very good and we had patatas bravas for appetizer and were delicious. We ordered arroz negro and wasn’t as good as expected. It was lacking flavor in my personal opinion and being the star of the show, that why I give them a 3 stars rating food wise. I think maybe this is not the specialty rice of the restaurant but still. Desserts were the highlight of the meal, crema catalana was delicious and tiramisu was very creamy and good. Would give it another chance but trying a different rice to see if my theory is correct. Thank you for your friendly service!

This review is going to sound out of place with all these 5 star reviews but please don't come here. If the photos don't speak for themselves, I'll describe them. the chicken paella was better than their seafood paella. imagine doing chicken paella better than seafood paella. the rice in the seafood paella wasn't crispy on the edges and salty to the point of inedibleness but the seafood itself was unseasoned and bland. I don't even have words for how bad the fried egg nest was. Just look at it. The waxy iberico ham with unseasoned fried eggs and fries. It was the worst experience of my time in Barcelona. Not only that, we sat down for 20 minutes before any server came and by that time, we'd grabbed the menus and ordered by ourselves.

I came here twice during my 4 day stay, one reserved at 6pm and one without reservation around 9pm. I ordered the same black paella but once it was really good, but the next time it was undercooked with liquid not reduced enough. And the service.. The guy who seemed to be in chief was really nice but the other day, the younger servers were saying that we can’t order paella for one while nowhere in menu mentions that. We said that we ordered the same paella for one without any problem the day before and then they said ok. I thought it was deceptive, and wondered why the food and service was so different only in two days. The food is really nice, but they should really have coherency in what they offer, both the food and service

Pure disappointment. Recommended by a few locals for paella and seafood dishes, this place missed the mark on everything. Terrible service, waiters ignored us, would not bring our bill at the end of our dinner. Forgot about the starter and brought our main first then tried to argue we didn't order a started. Ordered - Marinated Mussels - not cleaned well and tastes funky. Seafood & Mountain Paella - Asked our waiter what came in the dish before ordering and he told us a mix of seafood ( cuttlefish, squid, shirmp, clams) and land (chicken, sausage, beef) There was no squid, beef or sausage in our dish only very dry chicken. When asked about the lack of land in our dish our waiter shrugged and walked away. Would not recommend.
