Read moreAfter passing by many times, we decided to give it a try. We received a welcome and were seated at the bar upon our request. There were only a few tables in, as it was around 7pm. After a few mins, we had to try and get the attention of one of the three servers, who were very busy, catching up, chatting. We ordered a beer and a cocktail with some chips and curry sauce. Drinks and food were fine, perhaps a little on the small side. Then after trying again to break up the “chat” behind the bar between the staff, we were presented with our bill. Immediately I could see there was an incorrect entry, an extra cocktail had been added, I let the server know and was asked “ did you order and change your mind” to which I replied “ no, we didn’t order it” then the bill was corrected and there was an under the breath apology. As we are not American and didn’t leave a tip, backs were turned on us and we felt very much “blanked” whilst we fiddled with the rope to exit. Disappointing service, slightly arrogant and more interested in chatting to other employees than serving customers. This was a shame as the venue and menu could make this...
Read moreLa Whiskeria might serve whisky fit for royalty, but let’s talk about the elephant in the room—or rather, the glacier in my glass. The ice cube? Absolutely enormous. I’m not exaggerating when I say it felt like I’d ordered whisky on the rocks, but the rocks were hand-carved by a particularly ambitious sculptor.
The glass arrived with what can only be described as an iceberg—so large it could probably sink the Titanic all over again. I came for whisky, not a block of ice taking up 90% of my glass. By the time it melts down to a reasonable size, I'll be left staring at the glass wondering if I ever even ordered whisky.
Sure, the cube is slow-melting (I see what you did there), but come on—I don’t need my whisky diluted over the course of an entire evening. It's a battle for space, and unfortunately, the whisky is losing. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if I return to Barcelona in 2025 and that same ice cube is still chilling in my glass, smug as ever.
Great selection, charming ambience, but I’ll need a chisel next time if I want more than a thimbleful of...
