Lady Dumpling Roger de Flor — Restaurant in Barcelona

Won't be coming back... Tried to order the lunch menu, I was told the only dumpling for the lunch menu was the vegetarian one, then why have it written on your menu that you have options to choose from The cashier seemed very busy and I had to stand there for literally 18 minutes just to have my order taken... I was the only one waiting for my order to be taken a bit ridiculous in my point of view Then I ordered 6 piece of xiao long bao (not like the ones in Asia very dry and no juice maybe put a little bit more broth into the meat mixture....) I ordered the cucumber salad which was good and I ordered 12 piece of the pan fried mushroom (good texture maybe a bit more herbs) and ordered 12 piece of the black one with meat (very dry) and also the karagee.. Now the part that really annoyed me and one of the reasons I will Not be coming back... After waiting 15-20 minutes on top of waiting to have to order so maybe after 40 minutes total from when I walked in my karagee was served to a different girl. Instead of giving me 12 dumplings of mushroom and beef they gave me 6 when I complained I had to look for my receipt to prove I paid for 12 of meat and 12 mushroom then they apologised and said they will make the ones missing but it would be another 20 minutes at least... I asked if I could cancel then and get my money back which didn't happen.... Hated the service, food was OK, you can get better dumplings elsewhere even in Barcelona... Left feeling frustrated... Oh and may I add that I came at 4 pm not during...

We went to the place based on the good reviews but were very disappointed at the quality of the food. The taste of the steamed buns don’t nearly live up to my expectations. Granted I have high expectations as I grew up in Shanghai China where steamed buns were part of morning staple food for breakfast. The dough is sticky and thick as opposed to smooth and tender, I can’t quite make out the truffled pork meat filling as it doesn’t taste like pork at all and it is dry as opposed to be juicy. We managed to finish half of the order and left the rest untouched. We ended up order addition from another restaurant across the street.

The dumplings are ok but not great. The amount of juice is descent but the it is not that tasty.

The staffs are on the other hand very friendly...

Food is good and tasty. My personal favorite is the teriyaki rice with fried shrimps. Also, among the dumplings, I really like the beef, tofu, and mushroom options. The service is super good — I have two cases to share:

The first time, we got slightly different dishes, and even though we noticed it immediately, they still let us keep them and brought the correct ones as well. So basically, we got a little bonus. The second time, we had a big dinner with a group of six, and they brought us some kimchi as a gift. The service is always on point. Honestly, I’d prefer a cozier atmosphere inside, but I get it — this place is more about quick, tasty food...
