We were recommended here yesterday by our concierge at the hotel . It was close by so we thought we would check it out . I worked in restaurants for years so i am never one to write something bad but I have to say this ! Place was very busy and they said they only had tables outside . So we were happy to seat there not being notified that there’s an automatic 10% up charge for outside dinning . To be fair it does mention on the table on the q r code. But other than this I guess this is accustom in Barcelona. Our server came by with menus fast but that was about all we were able to see of him. Had to flag him down to order some wine and food . Asked for some table bread and olive oil for table they brought us pizza bread that was mainly burnt (charging us an appetizer without asking) we were confused so we at least ask for the olive oil and they never came back. After they dropped off the food (again not our waiter )we asked for ground pepper they never brought it . The carbonara sauce did not taste egg and olive oil base but something out of a can of Alfredo sauce . Disappointed. My aunt order fish with white wine sauce . The sauce was a brown gravy. I believe there must of been a mistake . But still we pushed forward .Our waiter never came by to ask if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our meal . Bad dining etiquette. (At least in our home county) . We still tried to enjoy our time together and finished our wine but again never saw our waiter so we flagged down the front staff for our bill they still forgot to tell our waiter because another 30 min later we were able to get his attention and he brought the check . When delivering us the bill he never asked us how we were or hope we enjoyed ourself when we saw the up charge of this fail of an evening we spoke up and he rolled his eyes . Don’t waste your money it isn’t authentic Italian cuisine or polite...
Read moreWe spent nearly 8 days in Barcelona, and it was quite difficult to find a decent place to eat. I am very sorry, but I do not like Tapas. Tapas are good for a snack, but not enough for a meal in my opinion. After a long day of sightseeing and visiting the local museums we had an appetite that required good food.
My wife started researching specific restaurants in the area and she found this wonderful spot. I have to be honest here… The food was fantastic! And I’m going to tell you why. My wife and I both grew up in Little Italy the Bronx. We are big on italian food and this place surely hit it over the edge by our surprise.
Our wonderful waiter, Abdou. Was wonderful. A complete gentleman with a great personality. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was just as good. Abdou is a young man full of ambition with a great personality and kindness. This young man also learned Spanish in five years! I was completely overwhelmed and astonished by his accomplishments. Not only did he learn Spanish, but grew up with excellent manners and very respectful. We enjoyed our entire time during our meal and speaking with him from time to time.
The meals are of a generous portion, and the pizza was exactly like we had it italy. The Sophia… delicious! They even threw in some limoncello on the house with a delicious piece of lemon pound cake. What a fantastic way to end our vacation.
Thank you guys at Luigi’s restaurant. Everyone, from the cook, to the host, the manager, to our waiter were phenomenal. I only wish that more people that come to Barcelona would have a meal at this location, because it is a top-notch Italian restaurant.
PS.
Sorry we didn’t add any pictures. It didn’t take long for us to ravish...
Read moreHere is an honest review, I am unsure how this establishment gets such rave reviews.
We arrived and sat very promptly. Our waiter seemingly busy since our arrival asked us for a drink order. I mentioned a cocktail listed on their cocktail list and he had no idea what it was, so I ordered something different.
We had mussels to start. They were over cooked, dry and had an off putting flavor. Sent them back and was told the manager would be over to our table which he never arrived?
Our next course was carbonara which was great but the seafood de mare again terrible. The seafood is undoubtedly frozen and not fresh, which is strange when the local markets have fresh fish delivered daily.
We even saw other people sending dishes back.
I was so disgusted by the metallic, and almost bad seafood flavors we paid our bill and left.
Yes, we paid for every dish even though we only ate ONE out of the THREE.
The waiter was so busy he didn’t even realize the manager never came to our table or the fact that we sent two full seafood dishes back without touching them.
Unless you want pizza, choose another place.
The worst meal we ate...
