Went here from a recommendation from a travel blog and it was a great decision. With so many food stalls and restaurants in Bouqeria market while we don't have much time to explore everything, we played safe and followed the recommendation, and we were happy that we did.
Their paella is really amazing and so far one of the best paella that we had while exploring Spain for 2 weeks. The rice and seasoning is perfect. It's absorbed really well on the rice, so you can taste all the rich flavors in the rice alone itself. I ordered the prawn paella and my husband ordered the lobster and iberico paella. The lobster and iberico is definitely a must try if you want a rather different paella variation. The combination of the iberico and the lobster blends really well and add more savory and rich taste. The prawn paella also really good. The prawn is really fresh and tender. Portion is perfect, not too much and not too little. In other restaurants that we went, the paella is usually to be ordered minimum for 2 person. So you can only get the same paella for 2 person. But here, you can order the paella per person. Which is great, because we'd like to try more variation of the paella. So they can customize your paella as little or as much as you want. For 1 person, 2 person or more.
Another menu to try is their spinach fritter. It's a fried spinach which is a bit crispy in the outside and soft, mashed in the inside. On top of the spinach, they put aioli which I can say it's the best complement for this. I really like aioli in general, but this one is really stands out and has a little bit of twist, with a sweety garlicky taste. One of their team explained that their aioli is homemade and they mixed it with honey, hence the sweetness.
Their service is really top notch! 👏 Very welcoming and attentive. They did everything with a smile. Their service is comparable with Michelin restaurant or fine dining restaurant that we went in san Sebastian or Valencia. Food comes quite fast as well. There's another plus point, here the kitchen is literally open in the dining area, so everyone can see when the chef is preparing and making your food. So you know that the food is really well prepared.
Pricewise, is a bit higher compared to other locals restaurants, but it's really worth it. Expect to spend around €30-€35 per person in average for starter and main dishes.
All in all, it's a must visit authentic restaurant in Barcelona! Thank you and keep up the...
Read morePaella Bar Boqueria was such an excellent place! Everything about the atmosphere to the food and to the service was up to par. We ordered the following:
Catalan Paella - Excellent choice and perfect to share for 2. Olives - The in-house olives were amazing! Such a nice variety and every bite was delicious. Spinach Fritter - The spinach fritter was to die for. Their honey & aioli sauce mixed with the crispiness of the fritter was pure art. Mussels Marinara - Excellent starter before the paella. Again perfect sizing for 2. Tomato Bread - Can never go wrong with tomato bread. Sangria - The Sangria was excellent! Super refreshing and we regretted not getting the pitcher. Chocolate Churros - No words can describe how delicious and fresh they were. Definitely recommend Atmosphere/Service - The atmosphere was super fun! They had some pop hits playing and the servers were all singing and having fun. The whole restaurant (including customers) started singing Living On a Prayer when it came on! It was also very nice to be inside la Boqueria and we went around 8pm meaning the market was closed which made the place very relaxed and secluded from the craziness of La Rambla. The service was quick and they were very attentive to any extra plates and always asking on if we wanted anything else!
All in all, I highly recommend Paella Bar Boqueria! Great experience! Excellent food! And amazing atmosphere...
Read moreI am visiting Barcelona from the US and of course authentic Paella was at the top of my must try list. I had the opportunity to go on a Monday and of the available choices that day and time, and after reading reviews, I decided on Paella Bar Boqueria. Turned out to be the best option for me… I am a solo traveler often, as on this trip and the accommodations at this place was well suited for my party of 1. The seating inside is very small, but they do an amazing job making the space work for them. Size wise, it was very NY feeling to me… They do have plenty of outside seating, good for larger parties. My seat was facing directly towards to open kitchen set up, which allowed me to “people watch” the staff performing their culinary art. This was very entertaining !
I ordered the Catalana Paella. It is a combo of sea, chicken & sausage.
I saved my whole day’s worth of appetite for this dish and Paella Bar Boqueria did not disappoint !!
The rice was moist, the flavors were superb, the sea food cook just right. I know, I am going to be craving this for weeks to come and I feel sorry for myself.
I highly recommend you stopping by and give your pallet the pleasure of Paella...
