Restaurant Vegetarià Hindú Govinda — Restaurant in Barcelona

This whole interaction was in Catalan and Spanish (I'm not an American who makes everyone speak my language to me):

I tried to eat their 'menú del dia' here but couldn't finish it.

I entered and went to the counter to ask, 'Is your menu del dia still going? It goes til 4, right?' I asked, quoting the sign on their door.

He said, 'It's €10.50,' but I assume he didn't hear me correctly and I said 'Cool' and sat down at a table a bit away from the counter.

Then, I wasn't attended to for about 15 minutes, while other people who arrived after me were. So, after those 15 minutes, I went up the the counter and asked for the menu. One of the servers said, 'Oh where were you sitting? Oh yes, I'll get to you now.'

5 minutes later he came over and left a menu. 5 minutes later, he then brought me an order to go, to which I said, 'Oh, it's for here.' And he said, 'Oh, they told me it was to go.' I had to stop him and say, 'No, I haven't asked for anything yet.' So he left the menu.

About 5 minutes later when I was finally asked for what I wanted, there were zero options on the menu that had anything to do with curry - which is what I'm looking for in an Indian restaurant.

So I ordered the biryani for my first plate and soy meatballs (wth?) for my second plate. And an apple juice.

I tried some of the biryani- trying to stomach it- but it was so oily, crunchy in the wrong times and completely devoid of any flavor besides that of overpowering oil that I had a feeling I'd be sick if I tried to eat it all.

When I asked for hot sauce, whatever they brought me was unlike anything I had had before, in the worst sense.

Having tried biryani from Indian restaurants in the U.S., Malaysia, and Spain from people who are actually from India, I had gotten accustomed to some flavor, maybe a spice or two, no hard dried fava beans but maybe these expectations are too high. I was pretty sure I was not going to like whatever the second plate was going to be.

I tasted the bread: it was crumbly and sucked the moisture from your mouth.

So I went to the counter and said, 'Nevermind, can I pay for the plate I started eating and go?'

The guy made a fuss, said, 'That'll be €8.80. That's what it's going to cost me for that biryani' (My question is why only charge €10.90 for that plus another plate plus a drink plus a dessert, then? - seems like a faulty business plan...).

And then I paid the €8,80 and left.

My mouth felt violated and just drank a lot of water. Now I've spent 20 minutes writing this.

There is something known as customer service and these guys have no idea what that is !!

Ordered dinner for 2 adults and a child from this restaurant on my visit to Barcelona using Deliveroo. Besides some curry dishes and rice, I placed an order for 5 chapatis. The order was delivered on time by Deliveroo but to my astonishment, the restaurant only sent me one chappati. When I called up the restaurant, the hotel staff was extremely rude and despite acknowledging that they had processed my order incorrectly refused to help me in any way. They instead asked me to speak to deliveroo and get this sorted, even though deliveroo was just delivering my order. They failed to get my money refunded for the incomplete order and showed appalling customer service. The food was very very ordinary, but I don't have any complaints against that. Later on, deliveroo contacted me and even they failed to refund me the money, forget about the inconvenience this whole thing had caused to me. Overall, hugely disappointed and frustrated by the hotel staff of this restaurant as well as Deliveroo. Will NEVER use this restaurant again if I happen to revisit Barcelona. There is something known as customer service and these guys have no idea...

We visited this place for dinner on 2nd June 17. Were shocked to see the hospitality. The guy who attended us most probably the owner had lot of attitude. We were 9 people and he told us that he can give us 5 seats only. He told in such a way that he was doing some favor on us. After that he some how managed to offer us the seats as he wanted the business for sure. While taking the order we can see his rudeness as he was not ready to accomodate in any way. Finally the food which he served was not that good which means we had a double whammy in our overall experience. Totally not recomended as the food and service...
