I scheduled a reservation for 9:45, arrived around 9:35 table was not ready, was asked to wait in the patio for our table, 10 minutes later are told too busy and can only stay seated in the decorative table with holes, waiter finally brings napkin and utensils with one menu, waiter does not come take order for about 20 minutes, we finally get attention order water and sangrias, try to order food but waiter walk away, then now it is about 10:10 we finally place our order, we clearly say all our items and point on the menu, the waiter does not write down the order but goes off, around 10:30 we finally receive the sangrias we ordered and water liter with no water cups, waiter spills sanria when pouring and it stains my friends shoe, we can't get waiters attention for water cups for another 10 minutes, it gets to 11 and we still have received no food, even our appetizers haven't arrived, finally an hour after the order we receive one of our two patatas bravas orders, it gets to 11:30 and we get up to look off the rooftop as our food still hasn't come, the waiter says the food is on the way so we stay seated and the food did not come until around 11:45, 90 minutes after placing the order, a chicken dish we did not order arrived, we were so hungry we ate the chicken despite trying to correct the mistake, we tell the waiter as we never received our "Arroz de pollo “de payés” y butifarra" despite naming the item correctly and pointing the waiter told the kitchen our wrong order and insisted we ordered that item, eventually we were offered a free sangria pitcher for the long wait, then as we try to work down the third pitcher among three people it is near 12:20 because the service took so long they bring the check to force us out, the check includes a coca cola and limonda we never ordered, and includes the chicken dish that we never spoke and had a complete different title than the dish we directly told the waiter. This was the worst service experience ever and the food was not even that good, very mediocre, would...
Read moreThe rooftop at El Palace Barcelona is a beautiful spot — the kind of place that immediately feels special. When we arrived, there was live music and people dancing in the center, which gave the place such a lively energy. Unfortunately, the music stopped not long after we got there (around 9 pm), and I wish it had continued because it really set the mood.
The service was excellent throughout the evening — attentive, kind, and welcoming. We were pleasantly surprised when they handed us not only the regular menu but also an additional Lebanese one.
Food-wise, it’s not really a place to experience much Spanish cuisine. There are only a few Spanish options on the menu, which we went for as starters, and honestly, those were the highlight of the whole dinner. I almost wish we had stopped there.
The main courses were a real letdown. I ordered the turbot, which is such a high-quality, delicate fish. Normally, it’s prepared in ways that highlight its subtle flavor — grilled, roasted, or gently pan-fried with light sauces. Instead, here it was breaded, fried, and drowned in sauce so the crust turned soggy and the fish completely lost its character. The chef absolutely killed the fish, both literally and figuratively. To make matters worse, it was served on a plate better suited for fruit, with a side of lettuce drizzled in red sauce — the lettuce ended up being the only redeeming element of the dish. One friend who chose from the Lebanese menu was very happy with his meal, while another who ordered the duck couldn’t even finish it because several slices were undercooked.
Overall, I’d say this rooftop is absolutely worth visiting for the atmosphere, the views, and a drink at sunset. It’s a beautiful setting and has a really nice vibe. But if you’re coming here for the...
Read more"We experienced unpleasant treatment from the staff towards me and my friend. We arrived for an early dinner at 6:30 PM, the restaurant was completely empty, yet we were seated at a small table more suitable for cocktails than dinner. They justified it by saying we didn't have a reservation and that all dinner tables were reserved. This table was in the sunny area and it was uncomfortably hot, so we decided to leave and go to another restaurant. Another waitress saw us near the elevator, asked what was wrong, and we explained that the table didn't suit us, and we were going elsewhere. She said we could choose any table. We then chose a comfortable shaded table for dinner. That's when we wondered why we were initially given a 'bad' table and treated poorly. After dinner, we called the manager and the waitress who had treated us poorly initially. She started lying, saying we didn't mention wanting dinner, which is why she seated us there. However, we told her 3 times in Spanish and once in English that we came for dinner, and we were given dinner menu as well. She blatantly lied. It felt like she had a biased opinion of us from the start. By the way, at 8:00 PM, when we left after dinner, the restaurant remained empty. A negative feeling stayed with us after visiting this place. However, it's very beautiful with a stunning view. The menu is small and not very diverse. The food is good but not excellent, and the staff's attitude...
