Fourth time a disaster

We have been visiting the restaurant since last year. We brought our friends here and were always very satisfied. Tonight we have had one of our worst experiences, actually the worst restaurant experience in Barcelona.

Wrongs: No ice bucket or whatsoever to keep the white wine cool. Had to ask twice. Two dishes were not seasoned. Had to ask for salt and honey. The lady waitress who brought us food stood there with our paella and expected us to arrange the table so she could have that put down on the table, and my friend got his hand BURNT (YES BURNT) because the paella pan was REALLY HOT. The manager did offer to compensate us with desserts.which we did not take. We could pay for our desserts. Instead can she just train her staff probably? Some tourists were smoking in the restaurant for over half an hour (see photo). No one stopped that table. Come on, there is an outdoor seating area. We complained to the manager. She did talk to them but walked away immediately after the 1-second conversation. They kept smoking. They were obviously tourists. Why do some tourists think that they are exempted from the law? I told them off myself and said that it is a non- smoking restaurant.

There were like 8 or 9 staff which is plenty by Barcelona standard but the place is totally disorganized, and most of the time there wasn’t even a staff in...

We were sat after about a 5 min wait, the restaurant was full and seemed lovely on the inside. However we were sat next to the kitchen which happens yk? But we were promised that we’ll get moved which didn’t end up happening. It took them quite some time to approach us but at last they did. First course we ordered were the meatballs, I have to admit I’ve eaten some bad things before but this was almost inedible, the meatballs in themselves were so soggy and mushy, the sauce was actually flavorless. Overall 1/10. Next up was the seafood paella, it had 3 shrimps, oysters, muscles, and squid, the rice was undercooked and still hard at times but flavor was good therefore I’ll give it a 6.5/10. Lastly was the flank steak, when I ordered it I was asked how I would like it cooked and I said medium rare. Steak comes out rare. No worries I’m thinking, then they bring out this rock with a flame and you have to finish the steak off yourself. This was not mentioned anywhere on the menu and I honestly didn’t wanna deal with the hassle of cooking my own steak while trying to enjoy my dinner. I was upset at this point and just ready to leave. Overall, this place gets a 4/10 in my personal opinion. Spend your...

Very weird experience. All seemed to be well. Food was alright, definitely nothing to write home about. We had much better tapas elsewhere.

This is what was weird: At the end of our meal a different waiter shows up to give us the check. He is a young man, super chatty, spoke very good English and wanted to get to know us. Then he whips out a qr code and asks us to leave a 5 star review. I couldn't honestly do that but he would not take no for an answer, just kept pushing everyone in our party to do it. Some agreed because it was just so uncomfortable, thankfully they were able to remove the review later.

After all this we get to paying and he says "10 euro tip. You can tip here. 10 euro tip please". We didn't obviously. He kept trying to add it to our bill and we said absolutely not. But he didn't stop there. After all this he asks us to tip in cash, asks again in a different way "do you have cash? You can tip that way". He just kept asking and was being very weird about both the review and tip.

Tldr it's a tourist trap with very mediocre food running some kind of sketchy system to get reviews and tips. I would not...

Not too bad but there are better places to go for your money. Although the paella was good, it lacked a kick which could have been fixed with a little extra garlic. Another thing was that the chicken ceaser salad was not the best, the croutons were strangely sweet and the salad was pretty bitter. Additionally, I found two small fish bones in my rice which isn’t a bad thing, just something to look out for as it caught me by surprise. The service was generally good, the waiters were quick and very kind. However at the end we requested some water which we did not receive but were charged for it. We did not dispute and payed for it anyway to support small businesses. We sat indoors at a nice clean table but with a loud large group of tourists next to us. They seemed pretty drunk. I liked the interior with all the plants and the display of meat looked really appetising. However, they were playing cheesy corporate pop music which was not fitting for the vibe. That might just be me being a music snob though. Some chill jazz or even indie rock or spanish guitar would be much more suitable for the dining experience.

Surprisingly excellent meal! We got caught up roaming the gothic quarter that our intended eateries were already closed at 4:30pm. We were desperate to eat and walked in since the menu had a nice variety. Prices are higher than other spots but given the area we were in it makes sense. Everyone was outside but we wanted some warmth. Interior looks clean and well kept. We ordered pon con tomate, patatas bravas, chipirones a la aduluza (calamari), spaghetti bolognesa, and a black angus sirloin. Plus a beer. They did charge for bottle water but only 1 euro each. The service was welcoming and friendly and quick to bring out the food. We also have two young children that were loud but they did not mind but were very friendly to them. Our server Ayman even brought over a lollipop for my son who tripped and was cried from being shaken from the fall. It made the tears stop. The food was delicious and we are glad we can in!
