Tartela — Restaurant in Barcelona

My friends and I stopped by this place simply because it was conveniently located near our hotel. Unfortunately, even the most basic expectations of service were not met.

No one greeted us at the entrance or helped us find a table — we had to ask ourselves. The response was surprising: we were told to wait outside the restaurant, right by the door. After a few minutes, we were finally seated, handed menus — and then left completely unattended. No one came to take our order, and when we started looking around for someone to help, the person at the counter simply waved us over, as if we were at a fast-food joint, and told us we had to place our order with him directly. This kind of service might be acceptable at a McDonald’s, but not in a place that aims to offer atmosphere and comfort.

We kept our order minimal — just a quick bite before moving on to another spot. I ordered a coffee with milk and a croissant with ham and cheese. The croissant looked so unappetizing I didn’t even bother to take a photo. The coffee was plain, watery, and lacked any real flavor.

To be fair, the interior is quite pleasant. But sadly, that’s not enough when the guest experience is so lacking. There was no attention, no warmth — and that makes it hard to enjoy the place.

If I hadn’t been with good company, I honestly would have turned around and left the moment they told us to wait outside. In hospitality, it’s not just about feeding people — it’s about creating a feeling. Unfortunately, that was completely...

At Tartela, close to Placa d'Espagna, we felt like we were at HOME, we had the most amazing breakfasts, we enjoyed I think the whole menu while we were on a week holiday in Barcelona at Onix Fira Hotel. We had great coffee mornings, we tasted the traditional Spanish food, I'll attach pictures - not to forget the freshly made orange juice... an explosion of tastes... great prices, fantastic atmosphere, incredible customer service - and I'm working in the same type of environment and I know what I'm saying, the whole team are very polite, always smiling, very friendly & helpful.

Great people are running this wonderful business, you are doing an amazing job guys, you are simply amazing, I am truly happy that...

Spent an hour just trying to find service anywhere, so many bad attitudes in this city. Came in here and was worried as I was told I needed to wait to sit, but was then immediately helped. I had a large suitcase with me, and was worried about being a bother, and let the guy know I was only getting a latte, but he told me no problem, and then a latte was quickly delivered without having to "officially" order. Everyone was kind, there was free wifi, prices were reasonable, especially for Barcelona. I would return here. Glad to have found this amid so many other places that seem too lazy or unhappy to help customers.

For coffee lovers, the latte was good. Food looked amazing as well, though...
