I have been coming here for years. The pintxos are good although inconsistent. They have outdoor service tables where they charge a premium or dining inside standing up with limited seating. I was there today with a group of 6; children and elders half of them not really speaking Spanish. The outdoor seating doesn’t explain very well that there is a charge for dining there. So the elders went inside to order at the bar and brought the food to the outdoor patio not knowing they couldn’t . The waitress saw them bringing food outside and berated them. My party was startled not understanding what was happening. It was of very poor taste on the waitress’ part. I tried to explain to her what was happening and that we were happy to pay the extra charge but they couldn’t ring it in their system because they didn’t have a code for it. I mentioned this is not how you treat customers and she kept defending her ways. I understand she has standards she has to uphold but berating should not be one. All the servers seemed stressed and rushed. They need better training if they are going to charge a premium for outdoor seating. There really is no real service to speak of. Super disappointing and makes me not...
Read moreWe thought of stopping by only for a cup of coffee at 10am but stayed on for a long time as the fresh pintxos started to be displayed at the counter. Cannot resist the unique pintxos they offer here - the local goat cheese with italian tomato and basil, black pudding with peanuts, gratin spider crab, fried baby squid with sweet onion, gratin squid, basque cheese with apple and walnut.. the combination is unique and delicious! It turned out that coming here early to sample the pintxos is a relaxing idea. There was just a smattering of folks having one pintxos and coffee before lunch. We did come back in the evening but it was incredibly crowded - inside and outside the street. By the way the staff though efficient, is pretty curt. But I'd go there again despite the service for the unique pintxos. The cheesecake is also...
Read moreSome of the best pintxos I've ever had and I've been around and love pintxos, even when they're called tapas. Got caught in a bad rain storm in Bilbao and ducked in here. I didn't realize it but I was very lucky to get a seat. It's not abig place and with c-19 restrictions they can't have many people in there. The food was great! A menagerie of flavors and options. I definitely ate too much one little bite at a time. My Spanish is horrible and the staff was very understanding and helpful. They also have English labels on the back of the Spanish ones. By the time I left there was a line at the door. I'll make sure to get there early next time...
