Easily the worst Eggs Benedict that we had until this moment in Madrid and we had a few. I have trouble understanding all the rage about a self-styled brunch place that sells EB at 9,5€ a piece with a sauce that tastes like supermarket mayo. We also had a Bagel with Scrambled Eggs&Jamón Braseado&Avocado and apparently some cheese (that I couldn't find, really) which was passable I guess, except the fact that the bagel was a little stale and not very bagel-y. The café con leche I had was around 10% coffee and 1200% milk (yes, it doesn't add up) and as overpriced as the rest of the menu. Maybe we ordered all the wrong stuff in a place that is supposedly Argentinian (who are known for their superior cooking abilities) but I'd like to believe that if something's on the menu, it shouldn't be wrong, right?
Read moreAdorado serves breakfast all day: eggs Benedict, sandwiches, French toast, pancakes, etc. It's part of an Argentinian company that has 20-ish similar cafés in their home country. The Argentinian roots are not much reflected in the menu, though, which is similar to other brunch places. We had the Adorado breakfast and the pancakes. Both were good but not amazing. The pancakes are fluffy and rather healthy, served with a bit of honey instead of litres of maple syrup. The Adorado breakfast consists of a bagel (with an omelette, ham and avocado), tiny bowl of fruit, madeleine, small orange juice and coffee. It felt a bit cheap; I would have liked more attention to detail. The espresso was cold and tasted flat. They have a decent machine (La Spaziale), but their beans seem to be subpar. Overall, Adorado is a solid choice but not a standout in Madrid's breakfast scene—except for their...
Read moreI was looking forward to this place due to all the amazing reviews and I bet it is good, but we might have come in one of those 'not so good' days. We had the burger and the menu of the day. Unfortunately, the potatoes had the potatoes cooked since yesterday taste and just a bit warmed up, which didn't help. I like sometimes next day potatoes at home, but I prefer them fresh and nicely cooked when eating out. Burger wise: bacon was burnt, no sauce, cheddar cheese was extremely chewy and somehow tasteless and, when trying to at leas eat just the meat itself: didn't seem fresh, nor juicy, nor tasty. The salad in the Day menu was tasty, the chicken sandwich was a bit too salty and had a bit too much mustard. But, that might just not be my type of taste combo. Coffee was good, service was slow. Overall, a bit of a disappointment I must admit, but with a...
