Almagro Café and Bar Restaurante — Restaurant in Madrid

Went for a meal but found this was primarily a place for after work drinks with colleagues. Saw small mouthfuls of food on sticks being offered to drinkers and warm peanuts were a nice touch. The decor was all dark brown or beige and rather depressing.

However two older ladies were relegated to a small table in the back, and the waitress was frankly quite poor. We had to ask three times for water, and a surprised face greeted a request for a wine list. Food came in wrong order, and when sent back was clearly just re-heated before being served at correct time which resulted in overcooked grilled brie.

Baby squid and beans starter was very good, desserts were rather unimaginative. Noticed tgat tgere was an increase of 10% if you ate in the cold by the road outside, which was not really appropriate at this...

Very average, food ok but waiting staff unacceptable. Waited ages for the service and every time we finished a drink we had to wait ages for any waiting staff to notice and getting attention of anyone was almost impossible as they stood by the bar checking their phones and not what was happening in the restaurant. We had the Hotel in this street so we decided to take a Beer downstairs in this bar/ restaurant No beer options, just local one that will be my last choice if I need to order in another bar They dont serve any tapas with the drinks Just a couple of chips if you take 2 beers and some olive if you ask for 4 Then we got some candy when we ask for a Gin but that's all.
