As a brown Chicana from LA, this place is NOT real or authentic Mexican food. Rather, it's a complete appropriation of Mexican culture and food. The name in itself "comete mexico" means eat Mexico and its a reflection of the settler colonialism that occured 500 years ago when Spaniards invaded the Americas and massacred native peoples. This a place catered for Spaniards who want to feel "cultured" by eating food that looks Mexican but really isn't. This would be the equivalent of a bunch of British people eating soul food. They had an inaccurate representation of the Aztec goddess Coatlicue on the ceiling and the food wasn't even made fresh. I asked for milk for my cafe de la olla and they said they had none. Yet they had horchata on the menu that's supposed to be made with milk which just tells me the food and drink are not made fresh. The "chips and salsa" were really just dorritos and some kind of sauces that tasted like they were store bought. They heated up the same sauce for my enchiladas and were trying to say its salsa roja. This place is a complete fraud. On top of that my friend had ordered food that was way too salty so she returned it after one bite and they still tried to charge us for it. Dont believe me? Look at the rest of the high rated reviews, a majority are from ignorant white and...
Read moreI really LOVED this Mexican restaurant I recently discovered in my neighborhood! What a little gem… the food is really good and, so far, the best Mexican food I have had in Madrid. It’s very unassuming from the street, I had to do a double take to even notice it, but I am glad I gave it a shot! We ordered the tacos 🌮 (gosh I forgot the name) they come with meat and pineapple 🍍! Got it: Tacos Pastor! Anyway, they were outstanding and the portion was huge. So, since it was late we didn’t order much else, except for Guacamole 🥑 which was delicious, their sauces with tortillas also delicious, and their Margaritas were really tasty! To top it off, their service was super friendly, fast and very attentive. I can’t say more wonderful things about this place. Their prices are also fair and affordable. Do give this restaurant a try whenever you are in the area. It’s on Calle del General Pardińas 12 pasando Calle de...
Read moreFood was fine, not exceptional, service was overall acceptable however the ambiance was just not inviting at all due to the loud main stream commercial radio music. When asked to kindly lower the volume so that the guests could enjoy their meal and talk, the answer/excuse from the waiter was that the speaker volume was „broken“ (?!) anyway it would even have been better without any music then… towards the end of our dinner they finally changed the music to South American folklore style which was more suiting to the restaurant type and with a more relaxed and enjoyable rhythm, while having a meal. I...
