My rooms were booked through Expedia as “VIP” guest
Pros: The hotel location is very convenient with stores and restaurants within walking distance. No need to rent a vehicle unless you plan visiting anything too far to walk to. Even then it may be better to pay a taxi fare instead of renting a vehicle and paying for parking. The only free parking is closer to downtown in blue zones if you have an electric vehicle. The staff were welcoming, with one exception I will address. The rooms were cleaned daily and were clean overall. The terrace is nice and we were able to go up to the 360 view room as well
Cons: Although the rooms were nice and clean, the walls were very thin and the carpet had some significant wear from the chairs. At night and throughout the week, we could hear sounds from other rooms such as thuds, footsteps, water running/flushing, faint voices from other guests, and at one point what sounded like hammering. Breakfast is not complimentary so be ready to pay for 12€ per person per visit if you eat at the breakfast buffet. The food was good but wish there was more selection or different options on different days. For the price and “VIP” status we got I expected complimentary breakfast like many other nice hotels we’ve stayed in. On our first night we had an unpleasant experience with one of the employees. We’d traveled over 12 hours and were too tired to dine out at a sit-down restaurant. We decided to pick up some fast food and eat it on the terrace to enjoy the view. However, while we were eating, an employee came over and told us that outside food is not allowed on the terrace then said “this is not a Burger King, this is a hotel and you cannot eat that food here”. I don’t like confrontation so just decided to pickup and finish our dinner in our room. This definitely ruined our evening. Now I understand there are hotel policies in place for certain reasons so I am not arguing about the policy (although I do find it a bit silly in my opinion). The employee did not handle the interaction very well in my opinion and their demeanor was unpleasant. Having been in the service industry for many years, I’ve learned some comments are better left unsaid, just be professional and kind. Also, there was only one other table being used out of many other empty ones on the terrace so it’s not like we were taking up much space eating there or causing trouble.
Overall, I would only return to the hotel for the convenience of location. Even with that, there are other hotels in the area. Nothing too fancy or special in my opinion BUT not a bad option. That is why I can only give 3 stars at this time. Definitely not a “VIP” experience. Seems more like a marketing gimmick Expedia might use to get more sales however that is my...
Read moreI can only give it one star and it is so I can comment otherwise I would have given it 0 stars, the worst experience of my life in a hotel, they didn't speak to me when i arrived even no smile no hola no hello i think he even didn't recognize i am there tell i spoke ??? The worst staff ever. Never had such a poor and unfriendly service like this before how it is 4 stats hotel I am writing this review while i am living in the hotel room 602 room decor and AC was good Don't ever think to stay here except you want to be treated badly I came first day with 2 bags also have knee problem was clear no one ask to help me with my suitcases They have not learned the art of tact and curtesy while dealing with their guests !! I just came fom 4 stars hotels in Barcelona called Best Western Premier Hotel Dante wasthey know how to treat their guests Can you imagine i came to the room surprised no coffee machine no complimantry water no cotton swab also no tissue box only 3 napkins !!! When i got flu i start to use bathroom tissue!! I wish the owner or hotel manager to try there own shampoo to see how bad it is i went immediately to Carrefour supermarket to buy hair cream .... Do you imagine before check out i just ask for spoon and glass the receptionist ask me to come down to get it seriously !!!!!!!!
when i asked the receptionist why no complimentary water he said in madrid we drink from tap water !!! When i came at 11 pm ask them to remove the minibar to use the fridge he told me no one can do it now imagine his answer was just do it by yourself OMG i never face in my life like this BAD experience
I never wrote review while i am still resident of the hotel when i go back to my home town i will not advise any one to come to this hotel
The important of negative reviews is more important than positive so we can improve our services to the public .. Even after assistant manager answered this reivew i update it again before check out what happened omg unbelievable there is NO room services in the hotel at all it is not fair to let receptionist like mr.luis to bring to me utensils & to carry our luggage and to bring it for us down !! This is not fair they are working everything i had misunderstanding between me and mr.luis coz my expectations was high and i got shocked what is the point here to reduce the hotel budget this not fair for workers and guests...
Read moreI choose Hotel Atlantico for its prime location and 4 star status. That said it was disappointing and I will not be going back. It is located on the main super touristy strip of Calle Gran Via which lacks any neighborhood charm. Centrally located but next to an H&M and Burger King. Ease of location is one thing but the area just wasn’t great to stay in unless you want to go to big mass chain stores. Area also lacked good restaurants. The staff was very lackluster- the front desk is run 24/7 by older men who were not friendly what so ever. I stayed 3 nights and 4 days during that whole time the wifi would not work. It showed full bars but would not actually work, extremely slow, nothing streaming would work etc. I asked the front desk twice and they told me it was my phone however I could not get it to work on multiple devices. They were dismissive when I brought it up. The room was very clean and the mattresses were very hard (which I personally like). The room however was dated- there were two wall unit hairdryers that barely worked. Not many channels and only local ones- not one channel was in English and no option to purchase movies, etc. There was no complimentary water, no hot water available and no coffee set up. There was no prices for drinks in mini bar or bottle opener for beers. The room was very basic and lackluster. My room was an interior one with a window facing a wall and had little natural light, very dark. What I disliked most was that as a solo female traveler there was no chain or safety lock in the room. Twice maids came barging in room before 9 am while I was still in bed. My fault for not putting the do not disturb sign up but I thought that they would not come early. I didn’t like how anyone with an key could come in my room at any time. Also my window opener onto a landing that could be very easily accessed by any other rooms also with windows on the landing. I did not feel safe. Anyone could have walked off Gran Via and gone up to to rooms. A key card is not required for elevator and no one checks who comes into the hotel. I saw glowing reviews on this place by people saying it should be a 5 star hotel.... those people have never stayed at a 5 star property then. This was 3 star AT BEST. The only thing I can say positive was...
