This restaurant is an absolute disaster and disappointment. We decided to go back as a couple of months ago we had a great experience, but this time it was a big failure. First of all the staff is not attentive and does not have any sense of urgency. There is no assigned waiter and we had around 4 people serving us and taking order. The food was great until the point when they messed up our order. When this happened nobody bothered to apologize instead just making us wait. After our last dish was missed out and not served, staff could not even clarify if they forgot to bring it by mistake or it was not even cooked yet. When they mentioned the waiting time is 15 more minutes we decided to go ahead and wait for the dish, however all that happened staff made us wait for nothing, as at the end nobody bothered to acknowledge our order and take care of it, instead we sat for 20 mins with dirty plates. No dessert was offered and when we pointed out our concern for the service and misunderstanding of their staff, a waiter claimed that the plates are never removed until you ask for it. The cherry on top was observing a waiter who went for a smoke in the middle of service. Out of curiosity we wondered if he will wash his hands afterwards, however it never happened and he started serving a table near us. After trying to discuss our experience with staff they just laughed at us , saying that some of their waiters do not even speak proper Spanish, English or Russian even though we speak all the 3 languages. Instead of apologizing or trying to improve overall impression, staff tried to dispute with us mentioning that everyone around the world loves this place so there’s nothing to complain about. My advice is to avoid this place. If you’d like to try Georgian food it may be worth it but you will be left out with poor service and...
Read moreI have been a regular guest of Kinza and have consistently recommended it to friends, until my most recent visit on Friday 15.03.
I had a reservation for 20:00 and arrived slightly late at 20:10, which I believe is fairly common. However, upon arrival, our table was not prepared, and we were asked to wait as it wasn't ready yet. We were only seated at 20:30, which was a considerable delay.
Throughout the evening, we were reminded multiple times that our booking would end at 22:00 due to another reservation following ours. This came as a surprise to me, as it wasn't communicated during my reservation. The most disappointing part was when our waiter mentioned clearing our table prematurely because of time constraints. Even when we requested dessert and tea, we were informed that we had only five minutes remaining before we had to leave the table. This felt incredibly rude, as if other guests were more important than us! When I mentioned that we were made to wait until the table is ready for us, the waiter just shrugged. Interestingly, when we passed by at 22:30, the table was still unoccupied, indicating that there was no immediate need for us to leave as abruptly as we were made to.
Such behavior is unacceptable in the hospitality industry. There were numerous ways to convey the same message with greater politeness and consideration, rather than leaving us feeling dissatisfied. Regrettably, I don't think I will make reservations ever again, and I cannot recommend the place to others anymore. It's unfortunate that the staff fail to consider the consequences of their...
Read moreAs a huge fan of Georgian cuisine, I was super excited to visit Kinza during my travels to Spain. Coming from Vancouver, Canada, where Georgian food options are limited, I had bookmarked this spot long in advance and was counting down the days.
Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing in several ways. We didn't have a reservation, so we were seated in the basement, which seemed much less used than the main floor. The plates on the table had a noticeable layer of dust and a few dead ants. When I asked for clean plates, they brought replacements from the adjacent table, which were just as dusty. I had to show the dust on my fingers to finally get clean plates. Overall, the service was unwelcoming and quite snobby.
The food was a solid 4 out of 5. We tried khinkali with beef, khachapuri, sacivi, and megruli kharcho. While it was a treat given the rarity of Georgian cuisine in my life, it didn't quite hit the mark. The khinkali lacked sufficient broth, the beef in the megruli kharcho was sparse (though the base sauce was good), and the sacivi could have been more flavorful. On the bright side, the Kindzmarauli wine was a delightful pairing, and the herbal teas, served in traditional pots with a drainer, jama, and sweets, were a charming experience.
The interior design was impressive, with thoughtful details throughout—from the décor to the menus and bathroom sinks. Unfortunately, the basement, where we were seated, lacked these design elements.
In summary, while I'm grateful for the experience, Kinza didn't make the cut for my must-visit list in...
