The place is pretty chaotic, if you’re looking for a timely and detail-oriented service this is not the place for you. We had a reservation made for brunch at 1pm, and when we got there nobody greeted us. After 10min of standing and waiting, we reached out to one of the waiters, who sat us down about 10min after - their attitude was pretty bad, eyerolling, not a single smile and throwing everything on the table like serving us was a very painful favour they were paying us (0 tip of course) and when we mentioned one of our guests running a little behind they rudely told us that we still had only 1H to eat (which is a fact, that’s ok, no need to be rude sis)- they brought us the menu and another 20min go by before anyone takes our orders (food AND drinks). At about 2h05 pm our food is served and when we finished eating, about 10min before 3pm the place is completely empty.
The food itself is pretty standard, not very high quality ingredients, dry ass pancakes and the dishes had a very poor presentation; but hey, food is food I guess.
The worst part of the experience was definitely the staff and the energy they have treating their guests, as if they were miserable and you were an inconvenience for them; brunch is a vibe, brunch should be happy; this staff is anything but and judging by the platting, their kitchen staff isn’t too jolly either.
I was surprised by the negative experience as I heard different feedback about this place but I can promise you there are MUCH better places to eat brunch in Madrid; definitely will not be coming back unless I have literally...
Read moreI just had Sunday breakfast at “La Desayunéria” in their Calle Ayala 46 location. As you walk in you notice it’s a unique kind of restaurant that resembles a highway diner type of thing. Lots of colors, lights hanging from the ceilings, loud in every sense of the word. I brought my dog as they are allowed here, which I love! The waitresses were extremely polite and accommodating, which I also loved. Their menu is indeed extensive and I finally selected one with two pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese grits. I also ordered a large cappuccino which was served in a regular size coffee cup, nothing large about it. The coffee was very good, but the food was just ok. I wasn’t impressed. It looked like just so plain, nothing particularly special about it, just ordinary. I feel like the ingredients they use are not the best quality or something. Coming from the USA one is used to so much variety as far as breakfast is concerned, and this place has a certain something I can’t quite put my finger on it that comes across to me as not good enough. Besides the fact that, maybe because it was a Sunday morning and it was packed, but the loudness of people’s voices, babies crying, and a closed room with no windows just felt a bit claustrophobic. My bill was €14 so not outrageous. Overall, what impressed me the most was the service and that it was “different” from your local Spanish breakfast choices, so it’s good for a change. I don’t see myself going...
Read moreWe’ve gone here a few times and haven’t been super pleased, but our small child enjoys it so we’ve returned. However, our last experience was the worst and we won’t be back.
They kept bringing us the wrong food (three separate times they got it wrong) and seemed annoyed by us…one mix up was supposed to be gluten free and luckily we double checked and asked that it was gluten free (because it was not and had to be sent back). The last straw was when the gluten free meal finally came only half of the French toast was cooked. The bottom was completely raw egg. When we (calmly) told the girl our frustrations she argued instead of just apologizing. What a mess…
The food is sub-par and not proper “American” style and the service isn’t great. I don’t understand the hype or why anyone would wait outside in the cold to get in. I can normally just smile and not return, but this last visit really was an awful experience and the food isn’t good enough too make...
