I recently stayed at Palacio de los Duques Gran Meliá in Madrid and had an exceptional experience. The hotel's commitment to providing outstanding customer service truly stood out throughout my stay. The staff members were attentive and consistently asked if there was anything they could assist with. The city guide desk was a valuable resource for exploring Madrid, and the staff provided helpful recommendations. One of the highlights was the seamless check-in process. Despite arriving at 8 am, well before the standard check-in time, they graciously accommodated us and promptly got us settled into our room. This level of flexibility was impressive, even as guests of Amex FHR. Our upgraded room, courtesy of Amex FHR, exceeded our expectations. It was spacious and well-appointed, with excellent amenities. The shower was fantastic, and the room offered a pleasant view. The cleaning service, which occurred twice a day, was impeccable, leaving our room spotless and tidy. The Red Room Lounge provided a delightful experience, with a variety of food and beverage options included in our room price. We found it to be the perfect spot to enjoy some refreshments before heading out for the evening. I highly recommend taking advantage of this feature. The complimentary buffet breakfast, available through Amex FHR, was a true delight. The selection of dishes was extensive, catering to various preferences and dietary needs. It was a fantastic way to start the day and fuel up for exploring the city. Finally, the terrace on the top floor offered breathtaking views of Madrid, and the bar added to the overall ambiance. However, the only downside was that the pool was rather cold. In conclusion, Palacio de los Duques Gran Meliá provided an exceptional experience with its outstanding customer service, spacious rooms, and fantastic amenities. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madrid.

Edit: I had to come back just to say that I actually miss this place!! Lol - I'm at another hotel in London and it's great, but there was something about the people at Palacio de los Duques that just made you feel invited, welcome, comfy, whatever you want to call it. It's all of the little things they do. Remembering your name, opening doors, helping you carry things, the winks, nods, smiles and total patience...And the doorman/valet!! I regret forgetting his name because I want to call out how amazing he is. I really, honestly, sincerely loved my stay here and it's because of everyone that works there. Every one of them. Now I want to try all of the Melia hotels. Original review: I left another 5 star hotel today because I couldn't stand it. I'm so glad that I did! From the second I arrived the service has been incredible. The valet/concierge was extremely friendly as were the ladies at the font desk. On arrival they offer you a glass of water or cava (of course I chose the cava - when else can you drink that early and not look like you need help?? Lol). The rooms are spacious, well appointed, and very clean with tons of storage space. The toiletries in the bathroom aren't tiny bottles - they're full bottles of the essentials. And, finally, while there is a for-a-fee mini bar which is well stocked, there is also water in the room which is completely free. I don't feel nickel and dimed like I did at the last place. (cough... Wellington.. Cough.. Lol) 10/10 would stay here again and I'm glad I jumped ship from cough... Wellington.. Cough.... Lol

This elegant hotel is a delight from the moment guests arrive. A sensual fragrance is the first thing that hit us as we walked in, along with the towering ceilings and old world yet modern feel. The hotel is packed with art work, some replicas of Spain’s greatest artists whjxh immediately creates a warm vibe. The staff are next level. We had 3 female staff-2 Paula’s and Devin’s who were unbelievable helpful, kind and informed. We would not have had the stay in Madrid we did without their advice and tips. The hotel has a shuttle to take you out -if it’s free, but the location of the hotel is in the middle of everything. It’s brilliant and a beautiful jogging path for mornings and the main shopping strip 2 minutes walk. Incredible breakfast buffet, and the Spanish restaurant is one of Spain’s best. There is a huge garden which is a delight in hot days. And the Thai spa is absolutely brilliant-makes such sense to have Thai people giving massages as they are so skilled. The red room - an upgrade for suite guests and has snacks and free flow Ruinart. What’s not to love about that. Beautiful modern rooms too, with separate bath and shower. We loved it. A very special hotel.

This is regarding our stay from the 14th to 19th March. The three of us [my wife and my 21 year old son] stayed in a Deluxe Red Level room. We looked at the reviews for the best hotels in Madrid in Tripadvisor, other booking sites and Telegraph. All of them gave fantastic review ratings and glowing feedback-so we decided to try our luck. After looking at the cost in all our usual booking sites, I then looked at the hotel's site and realised they were offering a 36% discount. So obviously I grabbed that fantastic deal, which included breakfast as well.

This was supposed to be a short city break before the three of us return to our busy and mundane hospital lives! We wanted the stay to be very comfortable and nicely placed for our city trips. The hotel is about 20-25 minutes from the airport. Just take a taxi from the airport-it cost us 30 Euros. The pre-booked cars were from 50-78 Euros and the 'airport transfers' offered by all hotels could cost you upto 150 Euros!

The hotel is in a nice quiet street but just a few minutes away from the centre. The Royal Palace of Madrid-which I am sure many will visit-is just 4 minutes walk from the hotel. Plaza Mayor, teeming with busy restaurants, is a 5-6 minutes walk.

The check in was smooth and pleasant. Elena was very polite and professional. Though we have been to Barcelona and Canary islands many a time, and also to Madrid briefly for conferences, this was our first visit to Madrid as a family. So we had many doubts as to how we make full use of those 4 days; tips about the best eating places; popular tourist attractions and the deals the hotel have etc. Caesar, Hector and Elena were very patient and helpful and took a lot of their time to guide us with our plans. The hotel is beautiful and well maintained-you can see the photos here and on their website. The Deluxe Red level room was a spacious and comfortable room-it had a big double bed and a big [ not the tiny ones that some hotels offer] sofa bed. All amenities had the quality that you would expect from such a hotel. We had breakfast every day during our stay, except the last day as we had to catch an early flight back to UK-so they gave us a nice breakfast picnic bag with sandwiches, fruits and juice. The sit-down breakfast had reasonably good options and had excellent service. They also have a QR coded side menu which has some brilliant options. We actually ordered more from that side menu. The Red Level rooms also allows you to access their Red level lounge during the afternoon and evenings-with free drinks, canapes and perhaps more. I am afraid that we were so busy during the daytime and eager to try the outside restaurants, that we did not do full justice to their happy hours.

We went to see: a Flamenco show at Torres Bermejas, Palace guided tour, tuk tuk [autorickshaw] guided city tour; and of course eating out and shopping during these 4 days. We were given the right advice as well as direct booking from the hotel itself and for this we really need to thank Graze [ my apologies for misspelling your name]. We have been to so many guided tours-buses, SUVs-etc in the past 20 years, but this tuk tuk tour was brilliant [more of that elsewhere]. We would not have booked that if not for the reception at Gran Melia who strongly recommended it!

Over the past 20 years, we have stayed in a lot of 4 and 5 star hotels. Many of them with grandeur and ambience create an immediate impression but the ones that linger in your mind for years [and the ones you tell your friends] are the ones where their excellent staff makes the difference.

Strongly recommended [ if you can, wait till 1-2 days before the trip and see if the direct booking is cheaper; if not call them]. Will stay...

From July 27th-July 31st my mother and I stayed at your beautiful hotel. I wanted to express how grateful I am to all the staff from the front desk, to the wonderful staff at the restaurants, and to the wonderful security guard M Backe. . Everyone treated my mother and I with such kindness, respect and hospitality. My mother is 73 years old, and I wanted her to experience Spain and the beautiful culture.

Angel was so kind to my mother and I, and helped us so much. He is absolutely wonderful and treats the hotel guests which much kindness and is extremely helpful. As my mother is older, she had some difficulty connecting to the wifi, and he took a few minutes away to help her connect with her phone. All the staff at the restaurant and waiters/waitresses were so lovely and welcoming. Ana was so kind, and welcomed us with a smile every day. Aleksey, and Ismael always came to our table and asked us how we were doing and how we were enjoying our stay. Mbacke, the security guard was wonderful, kind and went out of his way to make my mother and I feel welcome. One day during my stay I was not feeling well and had a cold/flu. My mother went downstairs and asked the kitchen to make me some soup, and asked for some honey. All the staff in the hotel, asked about me and showed their concern. I had the most delicious soup, and the staff brought me tea and saved some bottles of honey that I could use to treat my sore throat. The hospitality your staff gave me was nothing more than above and beyond. Even when I felt better the next day, the staff came to my table and inquired about me during breakfast and asked if I needed anything. I am so thankful for the wonderful staff including Adrian, Angel, Alexandria, Beatriz at the front who first welcomes us to the hotel, Mbacke the kind guard, Rodrigo and Ismael (who both always stopped by to chat with us and inquire how our stay was), and wonderful Sebastian at the front entrance. I have never had a trip where I formed such admiration and gratitude to the staff, as I did with this trip to your hotel and the hotel I stayed in Lisbon (La Avenida Palace). Your staff went above and beyond to make sure my mother and I were comfortable during our stay. Your hotel is exquisite, the rooms are spacious and the food is beyond delicious. However what makes it extremely special is the people that work at Palacio de Los Duques. For those of thinking of booking and staying at this hotel. Do not hesitate to book here. Another amazing thing about the hotel is it is right next to one of my most favorite places in Madrid-The Royal Palace which is nothing but spectacular. On evenings after a tour, I would walk around the small garden in front of the palace and it was only foot steps away from the hotel.

Madrid is so amazing, I hope to return soon and stay at...
