If you think you cannot eat bad food in Madrid, you’re wrong. Food is not tasty, everything seems seasoned with just salt. The pork is not that good, is crispy on the outside (the only good part) and tasted like it was boiled in the inside (also no salt). We also tried the fish and tasted like steamed fish with no seasoning. How can you f-up pork?? 🤨 Tasted more like Dutch unseasoned food 😔nothing against the Dutch but they boil everything and only use only salt and pepper to cook. Service was also quite bad (only 2 of the waiters were really nice, a woman and a super friendly guy) we were seated next to the cutlery (the waiter with glasses sat us next to it) and he kept opening the drawers against my friends chair hitting it (he didn’t say anything, looked really grumpy) We also made a reservation through Google but they couldn’t find it, he asked me twice about who did it and exact date, It was a bit uncomfortable since the restaurant was half empty. Btw, 80 euros for two without drinks?? We could have eaten so many paellas and sangrias in another place. If you want to try traditional bland food go for it, but there’re so many good places for half the price (with drinks) around Madrid. And yes, they charge you for tap water and bread you never asked.

Perfect five-stars. We arrived at El Senador on the first day that they opened after a temporary break from COVID. We arrived early and were the first customers. Our server, Cesar, was very friendly and attentive, sharing information about the dishes and his passion for the food there. We started with the fava bean soup as appetizers, and it was a decent portion. It was a tomato-based soup, but it was not acidic like a typical tomato soup. We also could taste the pork that was infused into the soup (it also had pork pieces). The main dish was the cochinillo (roasted pork). It looks small on the image, but we were definitely full by the end. The pork skin was very crispy, while the meat inside was deliciously juicy. It was paired with potatoes that were also very good. Because this dish can be heavy on your stomach, it is recommended that you also pair it with the tomatoes, which are grown in the region. It definitely helped to cut down the fat. This is a classic Spanish dish, and I recommend that you put this as one of your food adventures if you are a foodie.

There is a Spanish only menu with a bit more options. The service was outstanding and fast. The breads that came with the sausages are additional charge. So if you don't want, you need to ask to send them back. I knew they charge and the sausages were delicious. 5/5 Callos 4/5. The callos was so rich. I would need to dip with bread. It was too rich to be eaten alone. I'm not sure how to eat this stew by itself. Salmon croquettes 4/5. The croquettes were super cheesy so it really depends on your taste. The meal was so full and was intended to be shared. At the end, the restaurant gave us free coffee shot. It was the first time some restaurant in Madrid even gave out something free. The restaurant itself was quiet and we went, there were many empty tables.

We went today, May 26, 2025, for a meal, 2 adults and a child, to this particular restaurant, after good recommendations. We ordered a cochinillo for one person, a salad, and a plate of meat. The cochinillo was full of bones and watery. Even the little child who was with us couldn't get enough of the food. The other meat we ordered was completely uncooked and undercooked. Only the salad with lettuce and tomatoes was delicious. At first, they brought us a plate with some small sausages and bread without us ordering them. Regarding the prices 35 euros for a portion of suckling pig which was unacceptable. 25 euros for the other dish with meat and boiled potatoes which were poor. Total bill for 2 adults and a child with 2 main courses, 1 salad, a water and 1 coca cola, 93.00 euros. The worst food we have eaten since...
