Hello. Just came back from a fabulous new Indian restaurant called Rangoli near Gran Via. I'd like to share my experience in case there's anyone else like us who doesn't have much experience eating Indian here in Madrid. We chose this place because location was important and while it only had 55 Google reviews they were all 5.0. I have no affiliation, receive no discount for doing this. I simply want to share my experience which luckily was a great one. It turns out the place has only been open for a month so that explains the low number of reviews. We were pleasantly surprised when we entered to find coupons for 20% off except for desserts and drinks through the end of January. We wanted a nice place to celebrate a birthday, not too noisy, nothing fusion, clean and with a varied menu. Im always a bit skeptical trying a new place. I've been disappointed finding good Asian food in Spain, it's prepared differently than abroad , spicy isn't spicy, etc. This place hit the spot. The wafer bread they brought out was fresh and the various sauces were delicious, from sweet to spicy. I tried the Balti chicken curry, delicious, really spicy, chicken very tender and full of flavor. My wife had the plak paneer, spinach with cheese, perfect. The garlic naan was excellent, plentiful for two, I eat a lot, and the portions were very filling. The presentation was enticing, the food lived up to expectations. Equally important the service was excellent. When I told the waiter it was my wifes bithday they brought out a dessert, cream with carrots and spices. A perfect way to top off a great experience. They are eager to please, make recommendations and friendly. The decor and ambience made for a wonderful experience. Total bill after discounts was 37 euros. I hope you'll try it out. I wish them...
Read moreMy visit to Rangoli in Madrid was an extraordinary experience that left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment we stepped in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. The staff's genuine friendliness and attention to detail truly stood out, making the hospitality even more remarkable than the already amazing food.
Speaking of the food, I had the pleasure of trying a variety of dishes that left my taste buds in awe. The Chicken Biryani was fragrant and packed with flavor, the Tandoori Chicken was succulent and perfectly cooked, the Mutton Curry was rich and savory, and the Chicken Curry was a delightful explosion of spices. Each dish was a testament to the chef's skill and dedication to serving authentic and delicious Indian cuisine.
The Mango Lassi shots were a delightful addition to the meal, offering a refreshing and sweet contrast to the bold flavors of the dishes. The balance between traditional and innovative was spot-on, making the dining experience even more memorable.
I must extend a heartfelt thank you to Nazrun, whose exceptional service truly made our visit exceptional. Going the extra mile to ensure our comfort and satisfaction, Nazrun added a personal touch that elevated our time at Rangoli to a whole new level. Thanks to him and the entire team, our trip to Madrid became an unforgettable culinary journey. Rangoli is not just a restaurant; it's an oasis of incredible food and heartfelt...
Read moreThe restaurant is really nice, with lot of spaces, however, if the place is full, it can be congested, with tables very close to each other and thus loud and not cozy at all. Due to this reason we had to switch between 2-3 tables before feeling comfortable after a long tiring day of sightseeing. However, this seems to have irked the staff and while they were not rude per se, but we received bad vibes and not so happy faces, which was definitely not called for, especially in a fine dine restaurant serving indian food.
the food was okay, good for european standards, but if you are an Indian expecting good Indian taste, you might not be very happy with the style of the Bangladeshi chef and staff. Asking for extra spicy basically means putting some red chilly powder. The Naan were bland and dry and when we asked our crispy tandoori rotis to be changed to normal one, they were again not happy and brought us rather super thick rotis later.
We still thank the staff for giving us the promised discount from the Fork, even though we did not meet the not specified rule of 4 PRINCIPAL dishes to be necessarily ordered for availing the discount, but still, it was not a great experience overall, especially with the pricing. The ambience is really nice though, but thats probably due to the good taste of the Spanish owner of...
