Stopped here for lunch after visiting the National Library close by. This branch of Santa Gloria is a great place for a quick coffee and lunch. Never having been in this chain before, I see that this branch has a wide selection of sandwiches, croissants, salads, pastries and other basked goods. I don't speak any Spanish, but the staff were patient and made every effort to be helpful. Eventually I got a Cafe con Leche, Tortilla de Espanol and Churro. The tortilla was excellent and just how I always imagined it should be. Just the right amount of seasoning. The interior, cooked, but not overcooked, leaving a slightly runny centre of egg. The coffee was excellent too.

The prices are excellent and the service friendly...

With the visit to Santa Gloria on calle Recoletos,1 in Madrid, we realized that it is not possible to generalize the quality of the environment, service, variety of options, etc. While the experience at the Princesa branch was excellent, at Recoletos it was just average. We will not return. Not enough staff to serve, the general appearance of the environment does not seem clean enough, the tea is served in a worn mug, not a teapot. Furthermore, there was no longer any black tea. The food is still good, although the sweets didn't look as attractive or as fresh as at the...

I went to Santa Gloria for breakfast. I ordered a Cesar salad, and when I opened it, the salad was not fresh. Greens were in very bad condition already. I told about that and I was given another salad, which was basically in the same condition. At that time I was upset because of that situation, and staff noticed that. They told that they will prepare a fresh salad for me (why not to do it the first time?). The staff didn’t speak English. When we asked for tortilla, they gave us tea tilia 😄 The atmosphere was nice, but some tables could be cleaned...
