Cafe Ca'n Toni — Restaurant in Palma

We went to the restaurant on 18th March for a dinner after reading some positive reviews, we were quite hungry and this restaurant was already open around 6 30pm and we could not wait till 8pm as most of good restaurants in Palma are open around 8pm.

A guy who looked like Toni the owner himself came to take an order from us we ordered fried mixed seafood and seafood paella as a main but instead of fried seafood what looked like left over Veg sautéed with a few seafood bits in it was served. As for the seafood paella that we ordered there were chicken wings in the paella. They got it all wrong and there were only 2 tables including us at the restaurant so it was not busy at all!. The paella was too salty and rice was half cooked so we left most of it. It was a real shame that we had to experience this as our expectation of the food was high but then realised that this place is a typical tourist place where they do not rely on regular customers.

It just ruined our last dinner in Palma before our departure the next day! And it was not cheap we could have had a gorgeous meal elsewhere with the price that we paid for the meal. I hope they have a moment to re evaluate the quality of the food...

The service and staff were absolutely terrible. Me and my wife arrived at this place and asked for a drinks table. The waitress (short middle aged dark haired lady) then took us to our table and I proceeded to order 2 sangrias, however she then told me that the table was for eating only. I then told her that I said I wanted a drinks table, and I also said that I didn’t particularly want anything on the menu beside the drinks. She brought the manager (elderly gentleman) who then said that I can sit at the table for only 15 minutes as they needed it for a reserved party. I reluctantly agreed, until the waitress started to aggressively remove the menus and plates from my table. As she pulled the menu, she threw my sunglasses on the floor causing them to get scratched. SHE DIDNT EVEN APOLOGIZE and walked away. After we finished the sangria, I asked for the check. When she brought the check over I asked her why does she treat customers that way in which she stated that she didn’t do anything wrong. We started out brilliantly with a warm welcome and quick service. Whilst waiting for our mains we were asked if we would like some ham and cheese to share whilst the food was being prepared. We thought that was a kind gesture and accepted. However when we got the bill the ham and cheese cost 23 euros!! This was more expensive than the most expensive main course we had ordered!! When we asked them, the server placed the card reader on the table and fetched a menu to show us the ham & cheese price!! Yes it was 23 euros, we weren’t made aware of this at all. We explained that the ham and cheese was not worth 23 euros, maybe 8 euros at most, but they were not for offering any compromise. We paid the price as charged and left. It’s such as shame as the food was amazing and the atmosphere of such an authentic spanish restaurant too has been spoiled by servers increasing the total bill price on unsuspecting customers.
