Just off the plane on my first ever trip to Mallorca - I was ready to explore, but also a bit hungry for some local foods. I didn’t have expectations as I walked from the hotel to an area that showed there were many restaurants on Google Maps . After walking the streets a bit I randomly chose Sa Ronda and was not disappointed. Not speaking any Spanish and the guy behind the bar not speaking much English I expressed I didn’t really care what to eat (I eat everything) but Tapas would be great. He set me up with a Tapas plate with a glass of red wine and everything was amazingly delicious. An explosion of tastes in every bite. Seafood perfectly prepared, everything nicely seasoned and not overpowering. It was a real treat. The whole feast was about 15Euro. I returned again today (for my second time). the guy at the bar recognized me with a knowing nod. I have now learned enough Spanish to discern there is a “Tapas Variety” plate so ordered the “grande” today and again - fantastic. I’m no Tapas connoisseur but this is now my standard. They have other food (main dishes) as well and everything I saw come out looked tasty. I suspect you can’t go wrong here. The guy that seems to run the place is super nice (but no nonsense) - It’s a great atmosphere and you can see there are many regulars who frequent the place. I suspect this will not be my last visit to Sa Ronda...
Read moreExactly what I love, a busy lunchtime, bar stools all occupied with locals and tourists alike, enjoying a caña y tapas. Although at capacity, the friendly waitress found me a snug corner barrel table with high stools to sit at, whereby I ordered the Entrecote 'en su punto, a glass of house red and a sparking water. I was offered some delicious apparently home made bread, thick cut, crispy crusted and dense and fluffy inside, not the usual boring stale baguette normally provided in such places. The Alioli and aceitunas were delicious. The steak arrived sizzling hot and sliced, on a terracotta plate; a thick streak of juicy fat along its flanks, and incredibly tasty and succulent with flaked salt. The meat came accompanied by fat chips, above average and crispy/fluffy, and a few pimientos de Padrón as a garnish.
The wine was acceptable as a house red.
Perfect spot for a quick, informal lunch for hungry visitors and Palma...
Read moreSa Ronda is a staple for me in Santa Catalina, the food is some of the most authentic I have had on this island. This place does not try to be more than it is, amazing food and service and very good prices.
First of all, the seafood paella is absolutely amazing. The depth in flavor is fabulous and rich. My god, If you have not tried it yet, you are in for a treat. The croquettes is another thing you just have to experience, the first bite from the jamón croquette is everything you were looking for whilst you were imagining the first bite. Pure and clean flavor with perfect texture.
Either which way, I cannot recommend this place enough. The staff are so nice and very quick and helpful.
