I have been touring northern Spain and went to Cabalobranco with friends this afternoon. We returned this evening for pre dinner drinks of Gin and Tonic and Vodka and Tonic. The first thing I noticed was that we were served crisps as tapas but everyone else were given Patatas bravas, even if they were only drinking coca cola. I thought perhaps we had just arrived at the wrong time. When I asked for the bill we had been charged €8 each! When I told the guy I thought it was very expensive he changed the bill to €6 each. I have been in Spain for 13 years and have never had this treatment before. I was so upset as the Spanish people are so...

They also served ham and pimientos padrón for free, and those were actually pretty tasty. We got some "claras" to drink, which is beer with lemon juice.
Overall, I'd say you should give Cabalo Branco a shot if you're ever in Santiago. It's extremely well located within walking distance of the Cathedral and the staff is very efficient. Just don't come...

We were a bit taken aback, but quite quickly we received our drinks and very nice complimentary pintxos that were much better than peanuts. The plaza is cute and it's very near the cathedral. Authentic...
