It is Friday afternoon...after a meeting with a couple of friends in Triana for a chat, my Mrs and I decide to go for lunch somewhere... just to try yet another amazing or disappointing place🤣🤣 We always leave it to chance, which we know well is not chance...everything happens for a reason. We pass by a place called Chiquilla, small, open kitchen, lovely bar top where people are having their lunch, a few tables...we see the "reserved" note on all tables...yet we get in and ask if they have room for two nice people😇😇😉... the well, spotless presented gentleman who welcome us, looks in his virtual map and goes...YES ..for 2 is OK!! How lucky...after us many tried and asked but unfortunately were told FULLY BOOKED!

Great...the experience was wonderful in all its aspects...and I mean it!... food, atmosphere, quality, attention... great value for money considering the premium quality of the food and the quantity ( not too much but yes generous). I am usually picky and I always manage to find somenthing to point out...Well this time... I could not!! The experience was so outstanding we decided to book a table for a special event for Christmas time...just managed to get a table for 4 as a miracle...they have many days already booked up!! Our most sincere compliments to Raul, the waiters and the chefs to make the experience magic. If you are in Seville, this is a MUST GO...

We had dinner at Chiquilla Restaurante tonight. I looked it up on Google and it looked good. First impressions: the place looks very nice and is greatly decorated. The waiter welcomed us very nicely, our Spanish is not great, his English was limited but we communicated. Service: The waiter was amazing and very passionate about the food they are serving, his energy was great. Food: they make their own mi-cuit foie gras!!!! And it was amazingly good. I am French and I have tasted lots of those in my life, this one had a different texture from what I know, but it didn't at all alter the amazing taste of the liver. I had a matured sirloin steak that was served perfectly, the salt they use is amazing, it came with baked red peppers in olive oil that were amazing and patatas fritas. My wife had a cod loin on tomato jam that I tasted and it was really good Wine: a ribera del duo in a glass, very nice Extras: we were given home made bread with an excellent olive oil and some curry flavoured butter, all tasted really great.

I think we are going to go back there before we leave Seville, just because it is that kind of place where the chef will keep surprising you.

Very...

The tasting menu was slapdash, uninspired and insipid. I would say that it was worth closer to 15€ than 50€, but in reality I wouldn’t eat this food again for free. The first and second courses and the dessert came straight out of the refrigerator: I would have been more satisfied if I had eaten loose assorted meats from the bottom of the local supermarket’s fridge after they had fallen off their shelves and out of date. The fourth ‘course’ was a small slice of tuna which was not garnished or accompanied, and was more fat than meat. The fifth course was a modicum of raw Iberico pork: while this pork can be served medium rare, it was served rare. The third course and the service was decent. To top it all off, despite the menu stating that bread was included, they charged us for it. I would rather eat gutter slop than here again.

Wow, what a hidden gem this place is! Tucked away on a quiet block in the hip Arenal neighborhood, Chiquilla consistently dishes up a constantly changing menu of creative, inventive dishes like grilled sweetbreads with blacked lemons, fried avocados with pico de gallo, or brown beans with tender pieces of pigeon...literally everything we had was delicious and surprising. Their pisco sour cocktails are A+ as well. They have a chic indoor dining area as well as several tall tables on the sidewalk, if you prefer dining outdoors. The service is warm, friendly and prompt. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Sevilla!
