The restaurant is coffee shop like, less restaurant style; one large glass walled room, no table cloths or booths- small dessert counter. Serve was friendly and helpful. English spoken here. The cuddle fish was a served in a cardboard sleeve on a plate with a dab of sauce and lemon. The cuddle fish was smooth and a firm just how I like it. Probably about 10-12 "sticks". The sea bass (branzino) was butterflied and grilled, served with salad and lemon wedge. It had a nice crust but was a little over cooked as it was on the dry side. Perhaps just my preference of having fish on the rare side. I didn't eat the salad that came with the dish. The Moroccan spiced chicken was really good; 2 pieces of moist boneless thighs spiced and sauced. Very flavorful. Definitely order this one. The scallops were colorfully presented. They were fresh ~2cm each served with scalloped potatoes (more like mashed), some kind of roe, and sprigs of something - a delightful sight served on a half shell on top of a leaf of lettuce. Scallops were done perfectly, and tasted like scallops. Dessert was the Dona Encarna cake. A multi layer cake with a light caramel sauce and a variety of nuts. This makes each bite of the cake customizable to taste and texture. It was sweet but not overly sweet for my taste. I'd order again. In summary, it was a good dinner in a pinch as I was looking for ox tail but couldn't find it and it was getting late for dinner, even by...
Read moreUnfortunately the food as well as the service are very inconsistant. We came here twice over three days, the first time the food was good and the service was really nice.
The second however, was a totally different experience. We ordered the same dessert that we had enjoyed the time before, described in the menu as "TRADITIONAL SEVILLIAN HONEY FRENCH TOAST WITH CARAMEL AND PANNA COTTA ICE CREAM", it arrived covered in Nutella instead of caramel.
When I pointed out to the waiter that I thought there might have been a mistake, because we already had this dessert and it was totally different, he got upset and said that the "recipe had changed" went behind the counter and proceeded to cover the desert, already covered in Nutella, with cheap drinking caramel saying "you want caramel??" although I said stop.
He went away and we asked for the check, when he came back with the check I had the picture of two days before open on my phone (I was double checking the picture myself and discussing it with my boyfriend) the waiter saw the picture and said this was not caramel but dulce de leche and started to explain that it was covered in different things depending on the day (which, again, is not written on the menu, and was never mentioned).
I would definitely not go back or recommend a restaurant where ingredients are completely changed "depending on the day" without mention and waiters get upset towards customer for asking a...
Read moreAn unforgettable evening at Dona Encarna – Seville
We chose to have dinner at Dona Encarna on June 5th to celebrate my husband’s birthday — and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful evenings we’ve ever had in Seville.
From start to finish, everything was absolutely outstanding: the food was delicious and full of authentic flavors, the drinks were perfectly served, and most of all, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, kind, and genuinely professional — every detail mattered.
What truly made the evening unforgettable was the surprise I planned with the help of the team: the waiters became my secret allies and brought out a slice of cake with a candle for my husband, right on the terrace. They even sang “Happy Birthday” — a warm, joyful, and heartfelt moment we will always remember.
A special thank you to Marina, who went above and beyond to help make the night perfect. Her kindness, professionalism, and enthusiasm made all the difference.
If you’re in Seville and looking for a place where authentic hospitality meets top-quality cuisine, Dona Encarna is the place to go. We will definitely return —...
