Found myself craving some comfort food in the middle of Sevilla, Spain and was pleasantly surprised to discover this restaurant by the Setas de Sevilla.
We sat outside due to how crowded it was inside. This is a lively and gorgeous restaurant, definitely a reservations needed kind of place and for good reason!
We got: SEAFOOD SOUP This is a thick in viscosity kind of soup, identical to egg drop soup. The difference is that there’s a variety of seafood chopped up into the soup which makes it so hearty, but the broth keeps it light and deliciously refreshing.
HOT AND SOUR SOUP Another thick in viscosity kind of soup, similar to egg drop soup. First sip and you’re hit with a tangy taste and a tiny kick of spice from the white pepper. The wood ear mushroom and carrots were thinly sliced and the tofu was deliciously tender. All the ingredients in the soup were fresh and the soup was exactly what I wanted when I asked for hot and sour.
SHRIMP DUMPLINGS Soft, pillowy, chewy bite into tender shrimp filled dumplings is how one wants to start a meal. These are among my favorite kind of steamed dumplings. So light and filling!
GYOZAS The Gyozas were so tasty because the soft first bite ends with a crunch bite from the bottoms of these dumplings getting pan seared. The filling is a mix of ground meat and veggies, very hearty, and well flavored.
FRIED NOODLES The noodles were so yummy, overall flavor was light and well salted. The different sauces that were stir fried in with the variety of veggies went harmoniously together. Bean sprouts, bell peppers, scallions, and chicken. Such a tasty, light platter amidst the more flavorful ones.
SZECHUAN SPICY BEEF Szechuan style of stir frying this beef with the distinctive tingly numbing sensation of Szechuan peppercorns, chili peppers, onions, and scallions. Each bite was deliciously crispy, flavorful and spicy!
PEKING DUCK The duck was perfectly prepared, the meat is deliciously flavored and tender, but the SKIN was thin and crispy. Sooo tasty. We built each bite with a thin pancake, piece of duck, sweet/salty black bean sauce, julienned scallions and cucumbers. All the flavors and textures came together perfectly!
Service was fast and so friendly. Perfect for taking a break from tapas and would definitely come back next time...
Read moreI ate at this restaurant on Monday night. The food was nice however two starters did not arrive and when we asked for the bill they were listed on the bill. On explaining this to the waiter he removed them however my partner had ordered the navaja al cebolleta off the seafood menu as a starter and they charged 28.00 for this. He had originally asked for scallops which cost 7.00 however the waitress explained you need to order a minimum of two so he changed and ordered the clams and asked for a small portion. We explained to the waiter who brought the bill that what was ordered was a small portion and there are no prices on the menu for the clams which he replied 'the cost varies day to day'. You could argue my partner should have confirmed the price before ordering however he had been ordering a starter portion of scallops and then changed to a small portion of clams so the waitress should have confirmed with him he would then be charged 28.00 euro for the small portion. I am working and living in Seville and my family are visiting and unfortunately this has been their first introduction to Seville. It is very disappointing because I feel they took advantage of us. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning...
Read moreAn honest American tourist review: Made a late night reservation, probably not necessary, but the place got quick so I think it helped. Service staff were super nice and thoughtful, including moving us from a table near the front door to a table more inside without us having to ask. Here’s our order: Shrimp dumplings ordered as an appetizer, very fresh, served hot (recommend keeping dipping sauce for later, so gooooood!) Crab and corn soup pleasant taste, overall good taste but nothing crazy exciting I would go back for again Seafood soup very delicious, a little on the fishiness side, but was exactly what we were looking for Beef with Rice Cake good taste, cooked perfectly, rice cakes cooked nicely and the sauce was delicious Spicy Sichuan Beef amazing! Texture and taste incredible (I got it extra spicy, this was a menu hack as it was unbelievable) Jar of Sangria great taste, a little on the sweet side, good price Overall, our experience was amazing and the staff there were super awesome too. We spent ~70 euros and felt it was well...
