I’m celiac and I immediately informed the waiter. He brought me a different menu indicating all the allergens for each dish. The allergens are classified as mandatory or optional. I ordered grilled meat and asked to have a side without gluten. The waiter proposed to only put baked potatoes as a side. When they brought me the plate I immediately saw that it also had fried pimientos and tomatoes. Having lived in Seville for a few years now I know that these are fried and unless indicated differently, they are fried in the same oil used for other things that have gluten. I called the waiter and asked whether they were fried separately. He told me he would check with the chef. He came back with the chef who asked me right away, without even letting me say a word “are you intolerant or allergic?”. I said that it’s the same, because in both cases cross contamination should be avoided. He didn’t even let me finish the sentence and said that it’s not the same. I asked whether I could finish my sentence and ask my question which was about checking whether they had two separate fryers. He didn’t let me finish the sentence again and asked the waiter to replace my plate with a new one. A couple of minutes later the waiter came with a plate with the meat and baked potatoes. Since the waiting time was so short to make a new one from scratch, I asked whether it was new or it was the same meat with different sides. They guaranteed that it was new. End of the story: after dinner, I had heavy symptoms of the celiac disease. And the meat was not even so tasty, just very salty. In general, the dinner was super expensive for the service, quality and treatment we received....
Read moreWe were visiting Seville and it was my wife’s birthday so wanted to spoil her. Our daughter jointed us from Toronto to make the day that much more special. I would have looked at more than 40 restaurants before deciding on El Pan Nuestro. The food was ok; the croquettes and empanadas were nice. When ordering the waiter asked if I wanted entree or main size, I ordered entree size. When 10 croquettes arrived, I checked and was advised you can’t order entree size upstairs, which is fine. This would have been great information when I ordered, instead of after they arrived. As our daughter didn’t want an entree, she ordered one of their best steaks and asked for it to come out with our mains. It arrived with our entrees and unfortunately was not the steak she ordered. When we asked the question, they took it away only to return the same steak and vegetables 40 minutes later when our mains came out. By this time we said to our daughter, don’t worry just eat it. We were happy to pay for our meal (which we did) and were not looking for a discount or any deduction from the bill. However we did ask the waiter if he thought it was acceptable in a fine dining restaurant to return the same meal. He spoke with the manager/owner and advised that because you ate it, there is nothing they can do. They believed the language barrier was their reason for the misunderstanding, which was disappointing. Unfortunately not our most favourable dining experience and disappointing that it had to spoil a...
Read moreIt's not worth the hype. Many other places are less pricier with better service. It started with the waiter needing to take the order a few times because the machine did not work. Wasn't a big issue, but while taking the order, he kept talking to other waiters and interrupting us. Our table was wobbly and we asked three times for it to be fixed, of course it hasn't been done, so we had to do it ourselves. Also, my main dish was served as a starter, and the starter as a main, and they served one dish for a person while the other person just sat there. While also taking the order for the tenderloin, no cooking preference was asked. The squid with shitakae also tasted horrible and cold. Do not recommend it at all. When the waiter was informed of the mix-up of the main with starter, he just dismissed it and kept talking spanish. Will not come back. Did not appreciate holding dishes with the apron that he used to clean the sweat off his head with and cleaned a knife on his pants! seen that it is supposed to be a fancy place, I will not come back! Positive thing is ghe atmosphere and the look/interior. ruined my...
