I have to say this is the second time I’ve been here and was disappointed. I ordered the vegetables with rice and it literally was just that. A plate of rice with a few sporadic chopped red peppers and carrots in there. Can’t complain in fairness but it was quite bland. I was still hungry afterwards so asked for some fries. I asked beforehand if they were home made or frozen and was told home made. Turned out they were crinkle cut. The bill came and I was charged 75c for ketchup?! I’ve never in my life been charged for that? The flavoured water was simply a bottle of water served with a slice of lemon and cucumber for €3. I didn’t bother kicking up a fuss until the bill arrived as I was shocked out of principle with the ketchup. The reaction was just plain rude by the owner, the silver haired man. He threw his hands up to say and huffed. I just paid and left. Also watch out, they will give leave you a bag of bread on the table when you don’t request it and then charge you for it. Thankfully I told them that I didn’t want it, would have been way too many carbs. The “flavoured” water, sporadic vegetables, charge for ketchup, frozen chips and worst of all the rude reaction means I would never go back again. Far better vegetarian...
Read moreWe were so hyped by the menu but, in the end, felt frustrated and disappointed.
Between our time of arrival and the moment we finally got our order, 1 hour had passed. One of the dishes we ordered had to be replaced because it was out of stock, but since we had already waited 30-40min before ordering, we simply accepted the suggested replacement. It turned out to be a salty rice with mushrooms. The other dish though, the Vegetarian Habanita Aubergine (Eggplant) was really tasty and quite enjoyable. Finally, the bill included the bread we ordered but never received, which felt unprofessional.
We got the impression that other tables had the same kind of problems that night (long wait, items not received). Maybe they were short on staff or had other issues, but still, not a great time for us...
Read moreHabanita was so good we went back twice in a row. We found their menu full of vegan (and vegetarian) options and the taste was exceptional. It’s true the portion sizes aren’t huge but it’s genuinely well cooked food. We didn’t have any of the meats but we highly recommend the vegan dishes - rice with black beans, the stuffed peppers and the croquettes with the sun dried tomatoes (1/2 ración is 5 pieces). Get the bread to mop up the yummy juice off the stuffed peppers. I very much liked the brown rice with wild mushrooms too which goes nicely with the peppers (hubby isn’t a fan of mushrooms) We tried both vegan desserts (natillas de mazana, flan de coco) which were fine for someone with a sweet tooth but i personally found them very sweet. We’re seriously thinking of going back for third...
