Picatoste — Restaurant in Seville

Sadly, not a good experience. It was crowded and loud but not in an exciting Seville kind of way, more like an over- crowded subway train but where the people constantly bumping into you are carrying easily spillage hot and messy things. The only way to get served involved pushing to the counter and fighting for attention, then periodically checking back until the order had been processed, then fighting again to extract the tray without spilling anything. I guess it might have been worth the fight if the food had been good but it was below average. I chose from the pictures over the counter what looked like a luscious toasted ham sandwich oozing with cheese but which turned out to be two pieces of slightly warm, previously toasted bread wrapped around a slice of cold ham and processed cheese. Not worth the struggle especially when just across the street was one of the highest rated sandwich places in Seville. Damn! Yet again, I wish I had read the...

Possibly the worst restaurant or café in Seville. If you are not a Spanish speaker, be prepared for an unpleasant attitude from the staff at the counter. They were rude and impolite. The food and drinks served were stale and cold. If you order hot chocolate, they will serve you milk, and you will have to stir the cocoa powder yourself. You might as well return to your hotel and order hot chocolate from room service. Avoid this place!

Nefasto. Está mañana hemos llevado mi madre y yo a mi sobrino al centro. Como quería churros, vinimos aquí por la terraza (yo prefiero Doña Carmen, y a la vista está que no me equivoco).

Al llegar, encontramos tres mesas libres. Esperando que un camarero limpie la mesa, se dedicó a limpiar las otras dos. Le pidió mi madre que limpiara la mesa, y todo lo que hizo fue retirar los platos (nos dijo que pensaba que llevábamos un rato, ese es el control de la terraza que llevan), viniendo a la mesa con desgana (como traduje por su gesto pese a llevar mascarilla). Se llevó los platos y no limpió la mesa.

Entré a pedir, café solo, chocolate con churros y otro chocolate mas; corrijo para pedir ración y media y me dice el camarero que me pone una ración, y luego si eso pido más (como una madre cuando su hijo le pide mucha comida vamos...).

Vuelvo a la mesa, y al rato recojo el pedido, que es autoservicio, pero en todos los carteles aparece el suplemento del 15% por la terraza, que alguien me explique, por favor. Del producto no hay quejas, pero mi taza estaba manchada (foto), los churros tenían una gota de café manchando el plato (foto), y en la mesa quedaban restos de los anteriores clientes (foto), ya que el camarero ni se molestó en limpiar la mesa ni desinfectarla.

El desinterés con los clientes se explica cuando, al recoger el pedido, me encuentro a todos los camareros embarazando con la mirada a una clienta; no era mal momento para pasar la fregona y limpiar el suelo, tanto por las babas, como por la ausencia de mascarillas bien puestas.
