Excellent each and every time. El Balcó del Micalet is a gem in El Carmen.
We always have the young man, Roberto, wait on us. Super nice and such an attentive waiter! He is there a lot and each time we have perfect service from him.
The indoor dining is spacious, inviting and beautiful. We have eaten downstairs and these photos are from this latest visit which we were seated upstairs.
Food is delicious. You can order a vegetarian meal with the most yummy vegetarian paella. We get the menu del dia during the weekdays for only 9,90€. This is an incredible value for the large quantity of quality foods! Potato bravas, a goat cheese salad and then the huge paella loaded with yummy veggies. Also a variety of desserts is included.
Roberto treated us to a toast of Spanish liquore. What a nice touch.
All in all an absolute perfect dining experience.
my only complaint and this isn’t just to this restaurant, it’s to all restaurant owners in the ‘touristy’ area of Valencia - is the ‘hawking’ or the ‘begging’ of us to come in. I have to say we have passed up restaurants which we may have eaten IF THEY DID NOT BUG US ON THE STREET!! We are not tourists. We live here. You should know that especially now since we are on perimeter lockdown!!! I have a kitchen. I can cook. Do not need to be asked to come and eat each and every day! I have been literally walking by with my arms full of groceries from the Mercat and these people push a menu in my face to try to get me to eat. No!!!! You are turning people OFF!! Good thing we were able to sneak by the young man (sometimes it’s a young women) on the corner near El Balcó del Micalet as he was ‘hawking’ to another couple, and walk in to have Roberto seat us. We had planned days before to have lunch here. I do not need to be guided in. I will run away fast when I see you do that. Please please stop this rude and INVASIVE practice.
Had to vent! Pass it on. Thank you.
And yes Roberto, we will be back. To be served by you. But only when I can sneak in without being asked/told to eat here! The moment I...
Read moreThe worst meal experience that I had during my recent visit to Madrid and Valencia. The waitress didn’t seem to have any idea as to how the menu del día worked. She allowed us to order items that the manager then said we couldn’t have, forgot to put our order for starters through and then led us to believe that a starter that was intended for 3 was actually for an individual. This confusion caused aggravation with the manager and spoiled our experience from then on. The seafood paella was far too salty and burnt in places - I don’t believe the chef actually tasted this before sending it out. We left half of this and refused the deserts, which were included in the menu del día that we had selected, because we were so disappointed with the food...
Read moreI was so happy to try Valencian paella and got dissapointed so much! Undercooked rice, no flavour at all, seafood paella but no seafood in it and on top 17 eur per person. I don't know how this place even works. The waitress acted like we are her biggest enemies, like she hates that we went there to spend money in the restaurant.. Also, as not natives, we didn't know that they work in two shifts. The work until 16 or smt and they open again at 19. When we entered around 17:30 they rudely started yelling, like ok, how am I supposed to know? Lock the door if you're not working! And on top of that we waited for 2 hours and went back there to try it. Do...
