Our recent dining experience at Trattoria Vecchia Roma with our group of five was nothing short of delightful! Upon our arrival at 9 PM, the restaurant was abuzz with activity, and despite our reservation, a short wait was necessary - a mere momentary pause that did not dampen our anticipation. Once seated on the charming terrace, illuminated by soft lighting under the shelter of umbrellas, we knew we were in for a treat. We realized that the umbrellas were certainly a godsend, providing welcome shade on hot afternoons.
To kick off our meal, we indulged in a round of cocktails paired with a delectable provolone appetizer - a gooey, melted provolone accompanied by chunks of rustic, artisanal bread. The dish was so scrumptious that it made its way around the table twice, allowing each guest to savor the heavenly cheese. While two of us savored refreshing mojitos, the remaining two opted for the lively agua de Valencia.
For the main course, I couldn't resist the allure of the daily special - a truffle and mushroom pizza that left me utterly satisfied. Meanwhile, two of my companions relished the spinach, ricotta, and truffle ravioli, one delighted in the classic pesto pasta, and our young guest eagerly tackled a hearty serving of steak and potatoes. My generous portion of pizza saw me sharing the joy with my dining companions, as the ravioli portions left them wishing for a bit more. With the delightful combination of pizza and ravioli, everyone enjoyed a truly satisfying meal. The standout dish of the evening was undoubtedly my flavorful pizza, a hit with all at the table. Likewise, the guest indulging in the rich pesto pasta expressed immense contentment, while the young steak aficionado polished off her plate with gusto.
Our unanimous verdict of a five-star meal was almost entirely unanimous, with a minor suggestion for those opting for the ravioli to consider supplementing their selection - perhaps with a crisp salad. Opting to let our sumptuous dinner settle, we decided to embark on a post-meal stroll in search of Valencia's finest ice cream, choosing to forgo dessert on this occasion. In conclusion, stumbling upon Trattoria Vecchia Roma was a true gem of a discovery, offering an excellent dining experience that left a lasting impression on our palates and...
Read moreIt's hard to describe succinctly how much we enjoyed Trattoria Pizzeria Vecchia Roma tonight. Weather was perfect, and the location on a quiet alley was very relaxing. Every table on the terrace was full (which makes you feel sad for the one neighboring restaurant which was mostly empty), but the owner invited us to sit inside and enjoy a glass of prosecco on the house until a table was ready. All the workers are Italian, and most are from Rome, as I found out after asking one of them, Alberto, about the plates with Italian sayings hanging on a wall inside. The service was unique in that every waiter paid the same attention and patience with the translations between Spanish and English, as if we were their own house guests. They truly work as a team. We had the Suppli and Carpaccio appetizers, followed by the Diavola pizza and two decafes. Again, Trattoria Pizzeria Vecchia Rome serves the exact opposite experience in terms of food and service as the restaurants that line the streets of...
Read moreI was craving for Carbonara and they are even offering to versions of the dish. The regular one and one with Truffle. As I am A Truffle Girl I had to take the more fancy version of Carbonara. As a drink I only ordered still water and even got a middle sized bottle for only 2 EUR which is quite good. But the Carbonara was somehow disappointing. The spaghetti weren’t al dente, no fresh Truffle and only a small amount of it. The dish was super nice seasoned and the bacon was tasting super good. But as I was paying 3 EUR more than the regular dish I was expecting fresh Truffle and a bit more of it. The Service was nice and the Ambiente I liked a lot. You can sit outside and the restaurant itself is quite cozy with a stunning big Pizza Ofen inside.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to my friends as I was disappointed or better to say I was more expecting than I got and I have eaten much better pasta in...
