I recently had the chance to visit the weekend dinner buffet at Flavor resturent Cinnamon Red Colombo, and overall it was a good experience. Compared to some of the main hotels in Colombo, the buffet spread here isn’t massive, but considering the price point, it offers excellent value. Cinnamon Red is one of the most affordable options for a hotel buffet, and they still manage to deliver a well curated selection. You’ll find a soup corner, salads, sushi, Sri Lankan and Indian dishes, pizza corner, an action station, and a few other varieties. The taste and quality of the food were consistently good, which is something I’ve always appreciated about Cinnamon hotels.
The ambience adds another layer to the experience. The restaurant has its own relaxed yet stylish vibe, and the views of Colombo city are stunning, especially in the evening. It’s a great spot for a family outing, a casual dinner with friends, or even a date night. The rooftop infinity pool area is another highlight, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the city skyline.
That said, I did notice a few areas for improvement. The service could be more attentive, especially when it comes to refilling items like shooters and meats. The lift also tends to get crowded during peak hours, so waiting can be frustrating.
Overall, though, it’s a buffet that balances price, taste, and atmosphere very well. Definitely...
Read moreI honestly don’t even know where to start because this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had in Colombo. We went to the Japanese buffet with high expectations, especially after seeing all the beautiful photos and videos they’ve been promoting online. But the reality? Absolutely NOTHING like what’s shown in the pictures.
What they advertise and what they actually serve are two completely different things. The buffet was supposed to be “Japanese,” but what we got was a very limited spread, mostly basic sushi, and even that wasn’t fresh or appealing. The variety that’s shown in the pictures and influencer videos was nowhere to be found. It honestly felt like a totally different event. And the desserts don’t even get me started! By around 9 PM, most of them were gone, and they didn’t bother refilling anything until the buffet ended at 11 PM. i have proofs with me..this level of service and quality is truly unacceptable. Overall, I left feeling frustrated. The food didn’t match the hype, I expected so much better from a reputed place like Cinnamon Red. Definitely not worth the money, and I would never recommend this buffet to anyone who expects what...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant for a Sunday high tea. We got the offer where 5th person dines free. At just under Rs.4k, it was a great deal. However, the options to choose from were nothing short of excellence. The dining area had a great view of the Colombo skyline and the chairs were comfortable. I recommend pre-booking.
The buffet had shrimp mini burgers, pastries, mini sandwiches that tasted great, Hawaiian pizza pieces, sausage pastries, kochchi sausages, a dedicated sandwich corner, a waffle and pancake assortment, and many more dessert options.
The virgin mojito station was a highlight of the buffet. I preferred the passion variant which had quite the punch to induce the taste buds. Black current and apple mojito options were also available.
The three drinks options were iced coffee, faluda and a cordial. The first iced coffee batch tasted more like milk, but the second round tasted nice. There was a separate tea coffee station as well.
Highly...
