Bikt in Gothenburg, Sweden, boasts a prime location adjacent to the majestic Domkyrkan, within easy walking distance of the city's myriad attractions. The establishment offers a serene vista overlooking the cathedral, now complemented by its meticulously restored garden and stonework paths. The interior is tastefully adorned, setting the stage for a relaxed dining experience with music at a perfect pitch—a welcome departure from the all-too-common auditory assault of contemporary eateries. Additionally, the bar exudes an enticing energy that promises a convivial night out. Ceiling lighting could be toned down a bit more, seeing each others face pores isn't the way to g here.
On the less commendable side, one does anticipate a certain degree of overpricing given its central location—a reality our wallets were prepared to meet. Yet, the cheap cava disappoints with its lackluster taste, making a second glass an unenticing prospect. An odd trend that has seeped into this venue is the serving of beer in straight IKEA glasses, which, while stylish, seem to expedite the loss of effervescence, leaving the brew disappointingly flat. Please stop Gothenburg.
The service, provided by a young and courteous bartender/server, regrettably also succumbs to the growing trend of inattentiveness to patrons' needs, a surprising oversight in an establishment hosting a mere half dozen guests, necessitating overt signals for a refill.
Culinary speaking, the Beef Tartare, an inventive blend of "Parmesan, cashew nuts, lemon mayonnaise, turnip, apricot, chili, and roasted bell pepper," offers a delightful symphony of flavours. Paired with a quartet of dainty sourdough bread slices and salted butter, the dish is a testament to the kitchen's prowess. However, at 165 SEK (15€) for a modestly sized offering, the cost is a tad steep, though somewhat justified by the overall ambiance and location—satisfactory, but not exceptional.
The Sotad Röding (charred char), robust and palatable, marries well with the recommended Chardonnay. But again, the price point of 365 SEK (33€) verges on the audacious.
We leave with a resolution to return, with hopes that Bikt aligns its pricing more sympathetically with the 'cathedral' ethos and its service becomes more reverent to match the solemnity of...
Read moreThe staff at this restaurant were all incredibly friendly and attentive. They were happy to provide recommendations and made sure we had an enjoyable dining experience.
The food was absolutely delicious. We tried several dishes and were impressed by the quality and flavors. The char, beef tartare, and black pork neck were all standout items that I would highly recommend. The char had a nice crispy skin and the meat was cooked perfectly. The beef tartare was fresh and seasoned well. And the black pork neck was tender and had great depth of flavor.
Beyond the excellent main dishes, the cocktail menu also impressed. They have a wide selection of creative cocktails available at very reasonable prices. We were able to find delicious drink pairings to complement our meal.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. The combination of superb service, delectable food, and well-crafted cocktails make it a must-try. I plan to return again soon to sample more of their tempting...

We were a group of 20 Americans so it seemed there were a portion of the group that had special needs, and Bikt served them and served them well. From gluten free to vegan to other specific requests, Bikt effortlessly made everyone happy.
Really good house wine started us off. Then a plethora of appetisers were served that were outstanding and offered many flavors - an Asian style chicken, steak tartare, and a calzone!
For entrees we had either sirloin steak or a white fish. The steak was had by most and served with a light gravy and vegetables; everyone seemed very happy.
But the white fish was delicious. Light, flavorful and distinctive, I’m glad I chose this for dinner.
For dessert, a chilled vanilla yogurt over frozen rubbarb. Outstanding and different.
I’m still amazed by how well Bikt took care of the guests with special...
