I made a reservation at a restaurant with a dear friend who was visiting me from abroad. I had been there once before and really liked it, so I thought it would be a great choice to go again. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case this time.

From the moment we arrived, things felt off. We weren’t greeted properly, and the host behaved oddly asking unnecessary questions like where we were from, which felt inappropriate. The service didn’t improve after that. Our first waiter was fine, but then things got confusing as different staff members kept coming and going, making the whole experience feel disorganized.

When the food arrived, it wasn’t what I expected. The portions were noticeably smaller than before, and since we were both very hungry, that only made it worse. I even mentioned to the waiter that I was still hungry, but he didn’t respond or offer any suggestions. The same thing happened with dessert, I had to ask for the menu myself. Throughout the evening, we were barely looked after, and I had to flag down staff several times just to get basic service.

The usual hateful Swedish attitude towards foreign tourists--

First of all, I was not eating over the salad, but at a distance, over my own small plate and using my personal fork, since I'm not Swedish and I don’t know all the dishes, and my pregnant wife cannot eat many of them. There were no labels explaining the ingredients of each dish at the buffet, nor was there anyone available to explain them to us.

In any case, we travel a lot and have had good experiences in other restaurants in Stockholm—unlike this one: as you may have noticed, we left half the plate untouched. There are polite ways to say things: if I was in the way at that moment, it would have been enough to kindly ask me to move, and I would have done so.
