Kladdkakan Café & Bistro — Restaurant in Stockholm

Friendly staff, no complaints there. Chocolate cake - big tasty slice, 4 stars. Coffee - alright, pretty leaf pattern but the cortado tasted more of milk than coffee, either reduce the milk or get a heavier roast coffee 2-3 stars.

Mozzarella pesto sandwich - disaster, 0 stars. Spongy budget-quality bread with wet tomatoes and mozzarella inside then left some time in cling wrap meant the bottom half of the bread had dissolved into gross wet dough. Plus no spices that I could detect in the few bites I managed to take of it, not even salt, very bland. Guys, there are youtube videos on how to make good restaurant worthy sandwiches (Simple Rules for Better Sandwiches with Lan Lam on Americas Test Kitchen is a good one). For instance - spread a little olive oil on the cut surface of the bread first to prevent it from absorbing moisture. Use dry salad pieces as a crunchy moisture-blocking layer above and below. If you aren't serving the sandwich immediately, don't include the seed parts of the tomato and pat dry the wet ingredients like tomatoes and mozzarella before putting them on. Add for instance capers or olives so there is a salty/savory contrast to the fatty mozzarella.

I'm normally not this harsh but this was a 68 kr sandwich and I can, and have, made much better ones for less than 10 kr and I don't claim to be...

I have been here several times over the years however this time was my last. When I went to the toilet I noticed the mould on the floors and wood from the corridor. Then the toilet was dirty, the walls had dirt splashed. The mirror hadn't been cleaned with window cleaner and was foggy, the floor was dirty. The plastic plants attempting a new look only collected dust, the fake plant in the pot was also full of dust. Very dirty and mouldy, not to even talk about the toilet brush 😲. Shocking that they don't have proper cleaning. And it was actually quite dark near the mirror so you might want to get a light there.

I would recommend as an Interior Architect with F&B design experience remove fake plants they only collect dust that may also fall into the food. I noticed dust on the ones on the wall where I was sitting and it really put me off my food.

Get the toilet cleaned asap!

I love having coffee and a pastry in the afternoon and I saw this café/restaurant and went in. The cashier attendant was super friendly and I took her recommendation, the Kladdkaka. I sat down and staff brought over what looked like a brownie pie, a crusty chocolate layer enveloping a gooey chocolate cake with what seemed like homemade whipped cream on top! I seriously had a good 15-minutes of oral orgasm! Other guests were having late lunch and the food seemed good but I had to go back to get the Kladdkaka with whipped cream but I always found the café closed :(

I loved that traditional Swedish dessert and couldn't even think about looking at my phone and I never took a picture...
