TOURIST TRAP, AVOID - My recent visit to Restaurang De Svarta Fåren can only be described as a cautionary tale, and I feel compelled to share my harrowing experience to protect others from falling into the trap that this establishment has become. Here are the shocking details of my visit:
Restaurang De Svarta Fåren is undeniably a tourist trap. The façade of this place lures unsuspecting visitors, only to subject them to an appalling experience that goes beyond mere disappointment.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were quoted a price for the glögg that was a fraction of what we were later charged. The menu deception reached new heights when the bill arrived, revealing an outrageous charge that amounted to five times the originally communicated price. We ordered 13 glögg for a party of 8 people, and the final bill of 3250 SEK (21.93 Euro per glass) left us utterly flabbergasted. In comparison, the neighboring restaurant charges a mere 55 SEK (4.82 Euro) per glögg – a fact we wish we had known beforehand.
When we dared to question the unethical pricing and confront the owner, he responded with aggression and yelled at us, creating an uncomfortable and unwelcoming atmosphere. To make matters worse, an employee physically blocked our exit until we capitulated to their exorbitant demands. Despite our willingness to pay a fair, albeit still high, price, our pleas were met with refusal and further aggression.
To add insult to injury, the owner refused to show us a menu, claiming that the glögg was off the menu and that the price displayed outside was for glögg without alcohol. This manipulation of information was a clear attempt to obscure the truth and take advantage of unsuspecting patrons.
In an attempt to justify the astronomical price, the owner claimed that the glögg contained a wine that supposedly costs 225 SEK per glass. However, this revelation only raised suspicions, as it became apparent that he was arbitrarily assigning prices to suit his fraudulent agenda. When questioned about the inconsistency, he resorted to yelling and falsely claimed that he had previously mentioned the 225 SEK price.
In conclusion, Restaurang De Svarta Fåren is nothing short of a total scam. I implore anyone reading this review to steer clear of this establishment and warn others about the unethical practices employed here. This experience was not just a bad meal; it was a blatant attempt to exploit and deceive customers. Avoid...
Read moreOverpriced and absolutely tiny portions. You should never leave an Italian restaurant feeling so hungry. It’s as close to authentic Italian as Mario and Luigi.
Ordered 2 Aperol Spritz a daily special of lasagna and Frutti De Mare pasta. The pasta was an astronomical price of 258 sek. Taste was alright but absolutely nothing special about it. Came with 2 langoustine, 2 shrimp and 4 mussels and less than a handful of actual pasta. Lasagna was burnt and when we asked for new piece, the server was defensive and reluctant. When we received a new piece, it was even smaller and genuinely looked like the same piece of lasagna but with the burnt edges cut off of it.
Told the server we would pay for the drinks and the pasta but not the lasagna, he was even more defensive and argumentative claiming we were making him pay for it. He left angrily and when he came back and brought us our receipt, he had added 60 sek split cost (reserved for cutting pizza’s in half as noted by other low rated reviews) claiming the rule was if 2 people sat at a table and did not share food, they we’re still charged 60 sek for taking up 2 seats. When pushed further about not paying, the server began telling us how he “is the youngest person working here and the best seller” and that “it’s the rules of Sweden” and insisted we didn’t know better. Note my girlfriend is from Sweden and I have been living here for 6 months.
Don’t let this tourist trap and poor excuse for an “Italian restaurant” be a reflection of the lovely city of Stockholm. Let it be a reflection of poor ownership, management, employee training and customer service.
In short, you’re better off not eating here. You’ll arrive hungry, spend close to 1000 sek for 2 drinks and 2 “meals” with the food quantity of appetizers and you will still leave as hungry as when you arrived but with much less money than before.
EDIT:
If it was possible I wouldn’t...
Read moreReading through all visible comments, I agree that the food was really good (I ordered pizzas and seafood pasta). However, I was really disappointed about their service and the ambiance. Just for information, the majority of restaurants in Sweden DON'T charge tap water. We were only 4 people and I was charged for 3 bottles filled with tap water (these bottles were already opened before reaching our table). Secondly, as a WOMEN who asked for the bill (since I invited my family to Stockholm), they ignored me until I asked the third time for the bill. When they finally gave us the bill, they ignored me again and intentionally put the bill in front of my husband and acted shoked when I took it instead of him. Not to mention a small incident when they told a guest couple to get out of their restaurant in the witness of other guests (Ican be understading under certain circumstances, but they definitely could behave better to keep the ambiance for other guests). Altogether, I love the food but it is not worth it to come back to be treated like that. My family was really frustrated with the way they treated me and I even have to tip them, which is not common in Sweden at all. (the restaurant owner might see this review and block or confront me. I never leave review for any restaurants that I have visited, however, I have to get my saying since this is my experience at this...
