The best restaurant I tried during my stay. Pretty location in the old town just off the busy main alleys. The interior has a charming rustic ambience, staff was very friendly and the food was a delight.
I went for their 3-course-menu which at the time consisted of an asparagus soup, venison topside with sides and a chocolate truffle for dessert. All three were delicious.
They managed to extract a surprising amount of flavour out of the simple vegetable that is white asparagus and even though it made for a lightly odd texture while eating the soup, the combination with a bit of smoked salmon, potato chips and creme cheese worked very well.
The venison was tender and cooked to perfection, it's flavour matched brilliantly with both the hearty red wine sauce and the sweet lingon berries. Couldn't go wrong with potato purée and green asparagus.
When the dessert arrived in the form of a small cube of chocolate on a bed of dulce de leche topped with a berry coulis I was a bit disappointed by the size at first but as soon as I took my first bite I realised how flavorful and filling this little truffle was. Perfect combination of bitter-sweet dark chocolate and sweet-sour berries. An absolute highlight.
I hope I can visit...
Read moreAmazing meal in a very cozy and welcoming environment. The next time in Stockholm I will make sure it is either my first or last meal when I arrive in town. Perfect for a day of exploring the royal palace, Nobel Prize museum, or simply walking around Gamla Stan.
I had a 3 course meal recommended by the staff. It consisted of their soup of the day + homemade cream cheese as an appetizer (really 2 courses in my opinion), red deer with a side of mashed potatoes, and lime cheese cake with white chocolate and a berry remoulade. Each item was amazing and it was as if each course was more remarkable than the last.
It was also very fairly priced for a little less than 600 krona. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming as well. I accidentally left a hat at my table and they were quick to help me realize it after I walked out of the restaurant.
I would recommend going in a small group as the restaurant is very small - I counted 6 or 7 tables inside total with half being for 2. That said, the larger parties seemed very comfortable at their tables and the restaurant's homey atmosphere still invites table conversations. They also have outdoor seating in the side street it's located for warmer months...
Read moreGreat food, terrible service We had made a reservation as the restaurant was recommended to us. We arrived on time and were led to our table. Then the disaster started. We waited to order, the waitresses went up to each and every table around us, bringing water and some bread and butter to start as well as taking their orders. We waited patiently and at some point politely asked one of the waitresses to order as well as for some water in addition to our drinks. Drinks arrived, for the water however we had to ask two more times. We had the venison dish, which was honestly great! Afterwards we wanted to order more wine and some desert, but the waitresses kept ignoring us, not even clearing our empty plates from the table. Once we didn’t feel like waiting anymore, we literally had to chase the waitresses to even get the bill. While paying I asked if the bread was a starter that we had to order separately. The clearly annoyed waitress replied it was complimentary and that if we didn’t get it, we were apparently forgotten. Guess that was the theme...
