On the 18th July at around 17:10 the young man at the cashier was exceptionally friendly and courteous (he is Asian and he speaks English fluently).
As do many establishments in Switzerland 🇨🇭 (including supermarkets and some shops) this fast food restaurant uses the plastic card terminals that are of low quality and can not read some non-swiss credit and debit cards.
The cashier patiently tried both terminals and finally one of my credit cards was read (it is a shame that many Swiss F&B outlets in spite of their high profit margins opt to save what amounts to negligible amounts of money and not purchase proper hand held card terminals.
I never had any difficulty with proper hand held devices in Switzerland but I usually have difficulties with the immobile white plastic readers.
It is a problem not only I but hundreds of thousands of foreigners face in Switzerland every year and I wonder who will compensate us for the time wasted and the embarassment!
As pointed out by previous reviewers the pattie is more of a meat loaf than it is a burger.
It is very lean and dry.
The satay sauce was served hot which is strange especially on a July afternoon as peanuts are high in protein and what basically amounts to peanut liquid should not be kept hot in warm environments.
The fries are not frozen but they undergo a double frying to achieve a crunchy crust and a very soft interior.
I prefer fries that are freshly cut and fried once which is why I find those at the Union Diner across the street...
Read moreFriendly staff, clean restaurant, quick and efficient service. Multiple choice of drinks (I think free refill on syrup that is a first for Switzerland) and ability to have a meal (burger + fries + drink) for a very decent price
Highlight of the meal was definitely the fries ..thick but crispy , probably best fried I had in Switzerland in a long time
Where they loose a star for me is that who is creating the patties is compressing the heck out of them making them hard (like a beyond burger kind of consistency ) that in turn makes people think they are not good quality beef (based on other reviews)
My suggestion would be to try to compress them less aftr you grind the beef so there could be some air left in there and that will make them more soft (more American...
Read moreOrdered takeaway, so can’t say anything about the service, but this was probably one of the worst burgers I’ve had in Basel. The top bun alone was bigger than the patty and ingredients together, I felt like I was eating pure bread. I had a single wilted, sad looking lettuce leaf. Tiny bit of cheese. Chips were ok. Ordered a “double chocolate cookie”, which had no additional descriptors, and to my surprise, it was actually a chocolate cookie with hazelnuts. I have only a slight intolerance to hazelnuts, so I just picked out the big pieces, but for anyone with an allergy, this would be just a waste of money and food. Gluten free cookie, though. Just wish it had been properly labelled. Bitter surprise, as most reviews...
