ZAP Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Basel

We visited this restaurant on holiday with my 1yo baby, one month ago. I feel treated differently.

I still remember the feeling of rushing to finish our food and getting out of the place. We entered the restaurant at 1pm and they close at 2pm. 1hour is usually well enough for a lunch, but the waitress kept asking if we finished our dishes.

Also, I asked at the bar for some tap water for the baby as our drinks were both awfully sweet. At the bar, where they had a tap with running water in front of me! The waitress pointed at the sink in front of the toilet across the room. So I politely asked for a bottle of still water instead. She repeatedly asked me in an annoying voice “ still water, not tap water ?”, twice . Maybe I was too sensitive, but I feel I was treated differently from the other customers. Was it because I had a baby with me? Was it because I was in casual outfit m? Was it because I was a tourist? My request was reasonable and I was polite. Yet, this experience makes me sad when I look back, even now it has been 3 weeks. I had to come back to google review to write this comment so that I can forget about this lunch .

The restaurant is rather boring looking, the drink selection is lacking in all aspects, from water to wine, and the food is to "try hard" fancy. Das beste Abendessen ohne Zweifel. Exzellentes Konzept und Techniken in jedem Gericht, das ist kein originales Thailändisches Essen sondern Thai mit Französisches Küche sehr speziell und Überraschend. Wir hatten als 1. Gang Foie Gras und Thunfisch Tataki gehabt das hat uns sehr geschmeckt a la class! Als Hauptgang hatten wir Krapau Ente und Curry me softly das Entenbrust ist so was von besten Temperatur gegart schön saftig ich kenne nur Krapau mit Knusbrige Ente und Trocken das mag ich gar nicht, also hier bei ZAP bekomm man das beste Ente! Curry me Softly hat meine Frau sehr gefallen gute geschmackt von schärfe und Pouletbrust in richtige punkt gegart also sehr saftig und nicht trocken. Dessert hatten wir Thai Basilikum und Thai Tea Cheesecake mit Pandan Glace das ist wirklich noch ein schluss die richtig Bumms macht! Genial Top und das Hochwertiger Service!
