"Best burger in town" - said our waiter and he is right! He said he does not really choose burger elsewhere as he likes their own the most. I am in no position to judge if there is at least one place in town better being a visitor, but it is definitialy in the top tier among all the burgers I had around the world. We went there to eat gluten free burger and it did not disappoint. The bun was very good, not like the dry pressed sawdust kind some places have but almost indistinguishable from ordinary bun (I have no gluten sensitivity but my wife, I could compare), soft and tasty. They also knew the needs of gluten free cooking, paying attention to separation and avoiding cross-contamination, they know what they are doing. The service is very friendly and most helpful, portions are plenty enough. The tastes are great and the place has a nice atmosphere as well. We've been there in a slow period without crowd or lines but I can imagine it is nice when it is full as well. If I lived in Basel I could easily imagine this being my go to burger place. Read moreBit of a mixed bag. Burgers were fantastic...but my daughter's one, a plain cheeseburger (which I ate most of as she wouldn't) had a couple of parts that tasted disgustingly bitter, as if it was a mixture of carbon and cleaning fluid. I had to spit it out! Real pity, as otherwise I was extremely happy with the burgers, super tasty.
Fries are good, sweet potato fries also.
Seating arrangements are silly, with three big arm chairs around a table for one! Not sure what they are thinking honestly. You have to go upstairs if you want to be seated comfortably.
The man who served us was very nice and gave my daughter some chocolates as she was crying which was nice of him and it cheered her up :)
The other negative would be that the seats(the three armchairs we temporarily sat on, were very dirty and had never been cleaned, really off-putting I have to say). Upstairs was no better, and we had to clean the table ourselves as it was covered in crumbs and dried in food.
So yes, a mixed bag - but on the whole, I would not say no to another burger there as...
Read moreIt's a great spot to satisfy your burger cravings. Burgermeister for sure is one of the top three burger spots of Basel.
Food: Burgermeister, as the name presumes, makes burgers. You can choose between beef, chicken or veggie burgers. Two noteworthy options are the Chili cheese burger and the cheese fries. The cheese fries stand out with their crispy texture on the outside and a creamy cheese sauce that complements them perfectly. I highly recommend these menu items. 5/5
Service: The service at the restaurant follows a self-service model, where you order at the counter and retrieve your order yourself. The cashier was friendly and accommodating. 5/5
Atmosphere: The burger restaurant offers a casual atmosphere, perfect for a laid-back dining experience. It provides a comfortable setting to enjoy your burgers and the company of friends...
