Expensive, misleading menu, poor service and rude waiter.
The 3 of us went for dinner today, wanting to try authentic Swiss fondue. We ordered a traditional fondue, a meat grill dish and 3 glasses of wine.
During our time there, we had to ask for water glasses after being brought only a jug of water. Then we were served raw meat (this was meant for us to cook ourselves) but we weren't given extra utensils to hold the raw meat. Had to ask for that too. On top of that, the waiter spilled a glass of red wine all over my pants. But he did bring some cleaning solution and brought a new glass of wine. All the above incidents were laughed of by us.
The food was just OK, nothing to shout about especially the meats as there was no seasoning but we were given sauces to eat it with after we cooked the meat.
After dinner, when the bill came we were surprised to be billed twice for the meat grill dish. When ordering we thought the portion was supposed to be for 2 people for 41.90 as the menu stated for '2 ppl minimum'. But apparently this meant 83.80 for 2 people. This could have been more clearly explained by the waiter and should be written 41.90 PER PERSON to avoid confusion. When we asked the waiter nicely to clarify this, and told him he should explain it better to avoid confusion, he answered us in a VERY rude way, saying 10 ppl ordered it and there was no confusion there and "everyone has the same brain" so it's our problem if we didn't understand.
Where we come from, if it says for 2 people it means it's a sharing portion for 2 people.
Overall, we didn't have a good experience eating here despite spending 120 Swiss Francs and we advice all those eating here be extra careful when ordering and don't be surprised with the below...
Read moreWe went there for a group dinner and were not allowed to choose our meals. It was a fixed menu for everyone which was a bit disappointing but ok. However, we were first asked to order drinks and I got the wrong order. When i tried to nicely ask to the waiter if it was possible to change as it wasn’t what I ordered, I was told “it is what it is”. We then received 3 bottles of wine we did not order. When we pointed this out, we were told it was part of the menu. It ended up being untrue as we had to pay extra for the bottles of wine.
All in all the food (fondue) was okay. I was however quite taken aback by the service and do not plan on going back to this...
Read morePlenty of places for fondue in town but few with as legit a raclette setup as this place located on the south side of the river near the Bel-Air stop.
Raclette is where it's at here. Think of a half wheel of cheese that's put in a medieval vice attached to a spoke of a spinning wheel to allow it to be rotated beneath a hot broiler. The heat waves from the broiler melt the top surface of the cheese and the wheel is spun around to the carver who scrapes the layer of melted cheese onto a plate of golden baby potatoes or whatever else you might like, cured slices of beef perhaps?
Try a rosti as well. Think of a McDonald's hasbrown with more butter and...
