Good Food. Odd Experience. We made a reservation online and went to Le Thermometre for dinner for a social outing with another couple. The food was quite good, especially given the reasonable (for Geneva) prices. The couple we were with were not particularly hungry, so they elected to share a steak and a salad. The server feigned surprise and sounded a little disapproving as he confirmed several times that they wanted "just one" entree. Then, a few minutes later, I received a notification on my phone that our online reservation had been updated from a table for four to a table for three. The only way I can imagine this happening is if the restaurant went to the website and made the change. Odd. After the meal my wife left the table to find the restroom. There were no obvious signs, so she asked our server to tell her where the restrooms were. He pointed to open the sink at the bar in the restaurant and laughed. After he noticed that she was not amused, he pointed down the stairs to the actual restrooms. Odd again. I debated whether or not to leave a review, given the likelihood of an "odd" response or reaction from the restaurant, but decided to share our experience and let others decide if these potentially trivial oddities matter to...
Read moreOne of my top favorite restaurant experiences ever and I look forward to net time I pass through Geneva as I will definitely make returning here a priority. We (a group of 5) stopped in a couple of weeks ago on a Thursday and didn't have a reservation. Turns out, those are a must as the entire restaurant was fully booked up. Fortunately, they offered us the 5 seats at the bar and that turned out to be an incredible experience. 4 of us ordered the filet with the morel sauce and one had the boeuf a la plancha. For dessert, we had the creme brulee and the chestnut vermicelli. Both courses were absolutely incredible. The steaks were perfection and the sauces were incredible. AS stuffed as we were we couldn't resist them after watching them from our bar stools all night. The atmosphere was a major highlight as well--it was a warm, relaxed, inviting, and very unpretentious setting, which you don't always get when food is this amazing. It is run by a small family team and it is quite an operation to witness. Even though they were all systems go with very prompt and attentive service, the entire family/staff were still extraordinarily friendly and laid-back. This place is...
