Restaurant Bergstube — Restaurant in Zermatt

THE WORST SERVICE EVER! I visited the place on sunday 9.03.2025 at 13.30. I sat outside on the therasse, the waitress was lassing by ehen I entered and she opened me the door to balcony (so she saw that I was there, apart from me in the whole local were 4 people from what I have noticed). For 20minutes I was not even provided a menu card. When I decided to go out the lady (brown hair, very rude) asked me if I want anything, I said that not anymore as she did not bother herself to ask it before and I was waiting long enough to lose my apetite. She said that I could have as well stand up, get inside the bar and ask for the menu on myself! Worth mentioning is that I was walking with the help of orthopedic crutches as my knee was freshly injured. She did not only not apologise and was still insisting that it was my fault that I did not take the menu on my own, but she started to dyshonor me by telling I am a bad person and it was in front of 2 other customers! I told her that i was also a waitness for 10 years and such treatment (telling guests to serve things on their own and offending them) in unacceptable! I wanted to talk to the manager and went inside, but was able to tell the person in the kitchen (but the guy didn't sem to care either, well he is cooking so i understand it's nkt his business what tge service outside is doing). Apparently this girl behaves there like it was her own place. Doing nothing and being lazy even to bring the menu to people with limited walking abilities. I have never had such a bad as long as I live.

PS as I was unable to even see the menu, I can't say anything about the kitchen they serve, the place itself looked nice as well. But now I understand why it is...

We walked from the train station to the restaurant with the help of google map. It’s about 1.5km. We came here for dinner. We made reservation by phone. I think their specialty is rösti as they have one page of rösti menu. We couldn’t order raclette as they have only twice a week in the menu. The staff recommended their homemade fondue minimum two persons but we didn’t ordered as it’s a bit too much for us. We ordered rösti Moritz which had 2 pieces of seared pork. It’s served on a hot plate, very crispy n fragrant hash brown and seared pork topped with herb butter. Another dish we order is seared pork with salad. Hands down the best meal in Switzerland! First off, I want to mention that the bathroom was immaculate (as a traveler this stands out to me). The restaurant is very bright, open, and unassuming. The prices are some of the most reasonable for the quality. Our meal was perfect. We started with fondue and added a little bit of kirsch. I ordered a med rare steak, and it was cooked perfectly. The filet was so tender and delicious. The risotto was perfect. The vegetables were perfect. The presentation was great.
