I regret to say that my experiences at this restaurant have been consistently disappointing. Despite its convenient location, I can only give it one star, and that's primarily because of that factor.
As a local resident, I've visited this place multiple times, hoping that each visit would be better than the last. However, my hopes were gradually dashed as my experiences only worsened. The prices for the dishes offered here are exorbitant, even by Zurich standards. While I understand that the city can be pricey, the quality of what's provided doesn't justify the costs.
The staff's behavior has also left much to be desired. The female waitstaff I encountered were relatively pleasant, but unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the male waiters. Their attitudes come across as stuck-up and disrespectful, which significantly dampened the experience.
A particular incident involving my friend made matters worse. She had acquired a soft ice cream from a neighboring establishment and joined us at this restaurant. Instead of being treated kindly, she was rudely asked to leave, presumably because she wasn't consuming their products. In an attempt to rectify the situation, we ordered her a drink from the restaurant, but the response was still cold and unfriendly. Even after explaining the situation, she was made to feel uncomfortable, standing near our table.
Such instances of rudeness towards customers are unfortunately not rare occurrences here. On another occasion, I witnessed a girl and her grandmother sitting near a tree in an area that doesn't seem to be owned by the restaurant. A male waiter attempted to shoo them away, and when they didn't immediately comply, he resorted to an utterly shocking behavior. He intentionally doused the surrounding plants and tree with excessive amounts of water, seemingly with the intention of making them wet. This behavior was inexplicable, especially considering that it had rained heavily just five minutes earlier. When the grandmother voiced her concerns, the waiter dismissively claimed it was "restaurant property."
The level of service I've encountered here is truly abysmal, and I have no intention of returning. These repeated instances of poor service, disrespectful treatment, and unreasonable behavior have made it clear that this is not a place where I want to spend my time or money. My hope is that this review serves as constructive feedback for the restaurant to seriously address these issues and create a more pleasant atmosphere for...
Read moreIn case you don't read the rest of the review - all in all, and in reference to it's namesake, Aurora was indeed a brilliant and dazzling experience only instead of electrically charged particles interacting with the Earth's atmosphere, it was blasts of phenomenal rudeness emitting from our waitress.
Since I can't award zero stars, I'll find a good point: the chairs are comfortable. Now, onto the rest of the review...we dropped in mid-morning for a coffee and a quick drink. After selecting a table without a "reserved" sign, we sat down only to be evicted by an unbelievable rude waitress as the table was, in fact, reserved - our physic powers weren't obviously up to scratch today. The waitress then proceeded to demand our order from us in a manner not befitting a high street fast food chain, let alone a Swiss cafe on the most lucrative street in the city. The drinks were served in an equally rude manner - fortunately the kitchen hadn't opened so we were spared more...
Read moreOn a boiling hot August day in Zurich, my partner and I decided to step into a cafe off Bahnhofstrasse for a cold drink and refreshment.
Several of the tables outside were visibly reserved and so we chose a table that did not have the reserved placard on it. The waiter greeted us by telling us 'you cannot sit there, it is reserved' and waved her hand to show us which tables were available - somewhat unhelpfully. Another potential customer had made a similar mistake to us and received the same treatment - this customer, unsurprisingly, chose to leave.
The waiter then came to us with menus and immediately asked us 'what drinks?' - we'd not even had chance to have a look to see what drinks they had on offer!
Given that we were in a cafe off what people belive to be one of the most expensive streets in the world, we expected more class and decorum - really just manners! -...
