I came in alone without a reservation. They took lovely care of me. It’s upstairs in a Zunfthaus, a guild hall-type dining room, though I’m not sure it was itself an actual guild rather than a dining and drinking hall for guild-member medieval oligarchic power-brokers. In any event, it offered the best white asparagus of any place I’ve had it these two weeks in Switzerland, where it is, as all over Europe, magnificently in season. The veal au jus was not outstanding, nor was the Swiss wine, but the asparagus was fabulous, carefully chosen and steamed just right. Very nice and friendly staff. Thejcocktails were well mixed with a good twist onjthe classics, in some cases with local spirits. The food was no doubt delicious. They claim to have the best Züri Gschnetzlet's in town and so far I can't say they are wrong. The chocolate cke as a dessert was the perfect finish for a nice meal. All in all a bit pricey but the quality of the food is worth the price.

Only downside was the outdoor seating. Luckily we were early enough so we were not right next to the street with cars and public transport but even the pedestrian side is quite busy. Not enough of a downside though to take away a star. Looking forward to coming back and see the...
