Walliser Kanne — Restaurant in Zurich

DO NOT GO HERE! Go literally anywhere else! I made an online reservation with my friend for dinner. We arrived at the restaurant and we’re excited to try the cheese fondue.. we each got the classic (all you can eat) fondue pots. We were brought a bowl of bread and a single pot of cheese. There is no description of what cheeses are included, which it’s very important that we know because I’m pregnant and my friend has an allergy. The cheese was AWFUL. It smelled like a dirty foot and tasted even worse… I love cheese, all cheeses but this was terrible. We felt so bad and finally worked up the courage to tell him we’re so sorry, but we just can’t eat this. We each tried 2 bits of bread, the first soaked in cheese, the second barely dipped- we tried so hard to just stomach it and eat it because we felt so bad sending it back. He came and got it and we asked to pay. The room smelled like rotten cheese and we were both gagging.. he brought us the check and we were expected to pay 85 cf for a glass of tap water, an iced tea, a Fanta and 2 portions of all you can eat fondue. We argued with him for a very long time and it was such an uncomfortable conversation. We offered to pay for 1 portion, which is what we received… he made us feel even worse, telling us that he (the waiter) has to pay out of pocket for our cheese we didn’t eat (or receive) and said the manager wasn’t there and refused to call him….. this entire experience literally ruined my...

If you are a young person of color stay away from this place. Our experience was awful to say the least. As soon as we went in both waitresses looked at my husband and I and didn't welcome us, but rather pointed to the table available and stayed away for at least for 15 minutes. Finally one of the waitresses approaches us and asks for a drink and instead of getting what we asked for she just decided to chat and small talk with at least 3 other tables and bring them their drinks and more food before us. She finally brought us the drinks to the table and didn't bother asking if we were ready to order all the meanwhile she was catering to other tables back and forth and offering everyone else exceptional service. After another 10 min we finally got her attention and we ordered and again, she took her sweet time putting in the order. It took roughly about 45 min of us starring at everyone else enjoy their food until we got fed up and decided to leave. At this point we had no food or any reason as to why it was taking so long. Good food, weird service.

Was here just after coming in Zurich. Lady put me on the table with dirty napkins. I have requested the daily menu, but she said, they didn’t have it. After I have made an order, and this lady brought me the wrong one. By the way, the side dish contained somebody’s hairs inside. Lady proposed to change, so I had to wait the same time, as the first dish was prepared because of the misunderstanding. While waiting I wanted to communicate with lady a bit to find out, what’s happened and why she was so disorganized. I began with “this is the only Swiss restaurant nearby, as far as I explored”, but instead starting to reflect the lady stopped me saying, she wasn’t from Zurich, so she doesn’t know. Wow, what a perfect customer service for such a huge price. By the way, even when making a lot of mistakes, the lady didn’t proposed me to have a discount or some item for free, she charged me fully and was very disappointed when not getting tips.
